  1. I think the average about $2.50 each up to about $3.50. I shoulda just grabbed my smallest ones, I probably would have gotten about the same price. Oh well...

    unknown plant

My guess would be indian fern, but we can't see the whole plant in the picture. Does it all come to a center with roots hanging from it?
  3. Yeah, I know it changes with temperature. But, the temperature of the water would change almost instantly when put ont the refractometer anyway, I don't know how you want me to heat up the water straight from the tank. Or do you mean the change water? And it's stupposed to be an auto temperature compensating refratomoter...But, I don't have a clue how that would work, I just let it sit for a minute and then keep the tank reading the same as the change water Distilled water.
  4. I'd say they DO have a tadpole stage, they just pass through it while still inside the egg. Impatient amphibians, I guess.
  5. No pics, noone donated a digital camera. You'll have to wait for Caryl.
  6. You have to do heaps to get a quarantine facility registered. For specifics, do your own research. But you have to submit the design to MAF before you build it, if they accept that you then have to build it(Duh) and have a lot of specific procedures in place, you have to then get the whole facility licensed you have to chlorinate any waste water, have the fish inspected at your own expense something like 3 times over the quarantine period, blah blah blah...Pain in the ass, but it sounds doable.
  7. I'm back! I spent a whole $5. Missed out on the WCMMs wifey wanted because we couldn't hear what was the lot was and the yellow ancistrus I wanted were sold before the auction. But at least the plants I threw in bags as an afterthought hoping to get a couple bucks sold for $18, $16, $6 and $5, I think. And I got rid of 30 gouramis. But they didn't go for as much as I was hoping.
  8. Hmmm, don't have any pure alcohol, What's the SG of bourbon?

    riccia

Looks like I've got more than enough, I'll throw some in a bag and bring it for you. It's got snails in it, so you might want to throw it in a bucket with some snailrid for a day or two. If I've got time I'm thinking I'll grab some ummm...Crypt. Pontidefolia to sell too.
  10. The refractometer that I bought off you, Steve. So, either you sold me a dud or...Hehe. Seems pretty consistent and easier to read than a hydrometer even if it's showing higher than it should. So, I've just been keeping the salinity in the tank reading the same as the water change water. Actually, if I stop by Pies' next week I'll bring it along and compare it to his.

    riccia

I'll have to have a look, see if there's any still growing in my pond. Wait, you're going to Napier, I could bring some up for you if there is some?
  12. I'd be up for a 3/4" sea swirl, and a two little fishies phosban reactor and maybe the 1.2 kilo container of phosban, but that would probably be a bit excessive.
  13. My last tests Ph = 8.1 Salinity = 1.029 (Seawater is coming up as 1.028, just got a bit behind on topping off) Nitrates = 5ppm Phosphates = (Needa get a test kit) Magnesium = (Again...) Calcium = 425 KH = 8.15

    palmy water??

Damn, I was hoping noone would notice I screwed up such simple math. I actually change, when I'm not being lazy, about 400 liters per week. So only $20 per week.
  15. Make a good spa pump...Which means it'd probably be great for a good sized reef. That'd only be a 22X per hour turnover for Pies new tank.

    DI filters

Ok, I'll see about coming over say Tuesday and have a look. Grab some calurpa and maybe a frag or two if you have anything you want to sell?
  17. I wouldn't weld the tank in, Chimera, just find a way to strap it in well, or something so you can remove it. Then you can still use the trailer for other things.

    blue starfish

The asterina starfish? Little gray, variable numbers of legs? They're not pests, I don't think.

    palmy water??

$1 for 20L, ouch. That'd be $40/week for me... Get some dechlorinator, much cheaper.

Solution:Throw a heater in the main tank in case the return pump fails, Should keep it warm and there will be other circulation in there. Lack of calcium and filtration won't cause a problem for the couple days it takes to get back from your weekend trip. Of course, that kinda defeats one of the reasons for having a sump.
  21. I just had a look at prices, Looks like it'd cost me(Ignoring that it's not available here) about $45/month more plus a $250 setup fee. That's for the Surf flatrate plan because I KNOW I'd go over 3 gigs/month. And that would require me changing to Xtra. If I stayed with Paradise that'd be about $85/month more.
  22. Yeah, if everyone paid $5 it would really help with the upkeep. There'd be no members to require any upkeep.

Hmmm, you'd need a cell phone too. I don't have one.
