  1. I was going to say that it doesn't look like anything to worry about too much. But they do sometimes seem to swim around aimlessly just before they die. I guess it turns out that's the case this time. I doubt too much current would kill him. Unless there was absolutely nowhere for him to rest, even then they don't seem to have much problem with current. Even when my tank had about 40X turnover per hour mine didn't seem at all worried.
  2. There's not really even many spices needed, nutmeg, cloves, cinammon I think, Can't remember exactly. It's only a handful of them.
  3. Need to poop! - Goldfish 6:30 4/8/2010 Poop is coming out! - Goldfish 6:35 4/8/2010 All done. - Goldfish 6:50 4/8/2010
  4. Is it? I must have only seen the crap episodes then.
  5. I don't see a cane or bad leg. Is he at least really sarcastic?
  6. Also what size tank, what kind of hood and what requirements?
  7. 3 teaspoons isn't enough. To make it brackish with 10l you'll need somewhere in the region of half a cup. That should give you a specific gravity of somewhere around 1.010. I think bumble bee gobies like 1.010-1.005?
  8. You should get a hydrometer(they're not that expensive) so you can get the salinity right. It will probably kill the plants, but the bumble bees will be happier.
  9. Don't use a web browser based client then.
  10. I think it's been confirmed a couple times.
  11. Definitely just looks like scratches.
  12. The bigger tank is an AR850? Yeah, the redspot will outgrow that in a year or two, easy. He'll be doing 3 point turns.
  13. Depends how much surface area and the surfaces. In shear in many tanks it's withstanding 100s of pounds of force or more. However, I'd suggest you'd probably be better off with a really new fastener called "screws"
  14. Be nice if they weren't up in Auckland...Not so sure I want to spend $150 in shipping on sand when I redo my tank...
  15. Which is what he has as I've said. Lead acids.
  16. Pricewise, using normal retail prices on reasonable quality cells... For equal voltage and capacity: The lead acids are $4200 US weighing 424 kg A123s would need 40s38P so 1520 cells at about $7600 US weighing 106 kg D cell NIMHs would be 120 in series, 8 parallel for 960 total at $1100 weighing 157 kg Some Priuses and other hybrids essentially use D cell Nimh packs. At first they seem like the winner by far... Except the lead acids can produce 1000+ amps easily, the A123 pack would be rated to about 1100 amps but the nimh would be rated to 240 amps. So you'd need 4 times the batteries working out to $4400 US and 628kg. So 50% heavier than the lead acids for the same current, but then you have 4 times the capacity. But that's a LOT of weight and range likely isn't their primary concern.
  17. Maybe if an SR20DET made 600 ft/lbs of torque at idle and cost $2.50 for a tank of fuel...
  18. Cleaner water, less light. Without you giving us more specifics we can't give you more specifics.
  19. There aren't really many details published. The motor is a Netgain Warp 11 Series Wound DC, the batteries are 12 odyssey PC2150s. So the following is based on that little information: the battery pack is about 144volt 85 amp hour. Spec sheet for the motor is at 72 volts but gives a peak of 450 amps. At double the voltage current would be about double so about 4x the power. Taking into account motor efficiency it is probably about 130ish hp at the motor shaft. Also, the batteries would weigh about 425kg and cost about $6000NZ
  20. Best to do nothing. They'll be fine for 5 days.
  21. That magnetic metal cylinder is the rotor. The head uses alternating magnetic fields to spin it. Standard brushless electric motor style. It's water cooled and uses a fluid bearing. So if there's no water flow because the impeller is jammed or clogged or no water at all, it tends to get hot. 95% of problems with filters can be solved by making sure it isn't clogged and then running the outlet into a bucket to clear any air from the impeller.
  22. Not so sure on the cornbread recipe I used, I'll try Jennifer's next time. It wasn't very strongly cornbread flavored The chili was needed more beans and mabye simmering for another half or our two because it was pretty liquidy. Other than that it was...Well...Not really any better than from a can. Especially given the pain of chopping up onions and hour and a half cooking time. My bhut burning chillies wouldn't even burn the most delicate of butts. It's been suggested to me that maybe it's a magnesium deficiency.
