  1. so what do you suppose had been crossbred to get the unpure kingsizei you got ryan?
  2. my yellows are probably your yellows brothes and sisters doch i have 4 older ones that i got from lfs in palmy but once the male i got from ryan grew up it beat the living snot out of the older male and now has atleast 6 ladies to keep him occupied the older male just watches from afar and sulks his yellows are amazing they are byfar the healthiest ive seen in nz
  3. looks like im going to have to start an account with photobucket the babys are eating well on micro worm and bbs ive found that if you syphon off a small amount of water and as much of the hatched bbs then freeze the bbs in the large meat trays you get from pacnsave(plastic ones with grooves in it ) then your left with blocks of food ready for the babies and its easy to seperate too but the best bit is no cysts or capsules for the fish to choke on how does everyone else feed their babys?

the first one looks like my red shoulders which there has been some confusion about but ryan and i have come to the conclusion that theyre Aul.stuartgranti "malari red" i could be wrong wont be the first time
  5. I am so proud of my yellows they bred about a week before i went to aus and i was there for about 8 days to my surprise i came home to find her still holding so after deciding whether or not to pull down my tank and strip the mother, im left with 14 baby yellows do the happy dance they have bred many times before but due to my interferance they never came to term i guess it pays to just leave it up to the fish
  6. nah its the red i had neons in aus and they had it heres another linkhttp://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/hdntd.htm hth

    new tank

do your research first so you dont end up with fish that dont mix well ryans mix is a great mix of fish they look awesome and breed like rabits but mixing some species is just asking for trouble then theres the hassle of loosing fish taking them back to lfs or selling them on ive just had to sell a few fish that didnt mix well cos my tank was over run by big grumpy psudos terrorising the reat of my fish chris
  8. i saw something like that back in aussie and if its the same thing its called neon tetra disease it usually only happens in heated tanks and spreads to other neons and unfortunately other fish heres a link no pic though http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/disease/p/neondisease.htm hopefuly that works
  9. is there someone in the tank stealing eggs
  10. youve seen my pleccos havent you ryan they arent red spot or gold spot i dont reckon they are anyway from the pics ive seen and ive seen alot trying to figure out what they are

    ID please!

from the colours it looks a bit like geophagus brazilliensis but body shape tells me otherwise maybe a better pic would help like a full side of the fish's profile would be a great help hth chris
  12. i keep really random hours with work as a baker so my lights go on when i finnish work at 1030 and go off at 830 pm when i go to bed the fos dont mind and its always daylightsavings time in my tank too in winter my wife was turning the light on b4 work at 8 am times change on the weekends but as Ianab said fish dont wear watches they dont really know what time it is except for dinnertime they always know when its dinnertime lol chris
  13. i read that fish dont have pain receptors but yea whack its head with a hammer dont smash it though it may get messy if you do just imagine how bad it would be if you were locked in the freezer personally id perfer to be knocked out or find someone with a big carnivore and give it to them as food
  14. are they online and if so could you pm me their email addy?
  15. i would sugets stocking it with top level mid level and bottom dwellers of the comunity varieties fill the whole collumn of water with cvolourful fish i had an o ctagonal tank years ago and just used it to grow out betas no substrate and a bubble filter in the middle at the botom on the pluss side yopu could put a power head at the botom to cause a swirly affect and breed catfish the high flow at the bottom of the tank would be ideal for that
  16. sounds like impeller problems to me no pun intended cheers chris

shal i take a photo of th babies i got off you ryan the colour isnt strong but their young and get prettier every week i do have one that seems to have a little yellow but could just be a reflection off the gravel and those marble slabs i have in my tank cos at some parts of the tank his colour is different i dont beleive that their hybrids but am second guessing on red shoulder at first i thaught they were jakes but their fin length and head shape leads me away from that the females look like hansbanschi to me (from what ive seen on the net) but from not seeing them in the flesh before my oppinion doesnt realy have the credibility of all these other ppl who have kept them
  19. for those who dont know that tank is 700 high and omfg its a heavy ass tank me and ryan attempted moving it once and nearly dropped it thaught we'd better leave it instead of breaking it nice pics bro last tropheus i saw was in auks at animal shack
  20. just remember when decorating the tank that they breathe air so dont put powerfull filters or have any decorations too close together if they get stuck they will drown ha what a larf fish drowning its happened to me back in ausie a few times when i first got into betas i would sugest you try and get a few fems from the breeder same colour and all whoever developed the whie colour in them worked really hard to get that colour it would be a shame for it to be lost due to poor choice in breeding parteners and the fems should be smaller too the male will find it hard to wrap a fem that is larger than him hth chris
