    Cool Tang video

Wow that is really awesome  !drool:
  2. Replaced one light tube - AquaGlo with a new AquaGlo. Then I'll probably replace the 8000K Atman with a warm white or something from Mitre 10 Mega. Also got a new plant.
  3. Wow they look really cool  BTW gorgeus tank and lovely lush plant growth !drool:

    The What's Up? thread.

Ignoring doesn't work - they just get nastier and try harder for a reaction. I just wish the teachers would do something about bullying. It's completely unacceptable so why don't they bother to deal to it? They will do something if I can name the person that was doing it, but they don't give them a harsh punishment or anything, just a little talk. I don't think going to Nelson would solve anything. Dad and I don't really get on that well and apparently Nelson Boys is a very violent school, and I wouldn't have my fish and I don't trust my mum or sister to look after them.

    The What's Up? thread.

I did a cooking and coffee course at the community college today and yesterday which was fun. The community college is across the road from the college that I go to. When I walked home today and passed the dairy there were all these boys from my college hanging out there and I was on the other side of the road but they still had to bully me I'm completely sick of it and no matter how many times I go to the teachers they still don't stop it. The next guy to have a go with me will get a broken nose. I'm sick of having to put up with this. Our school supposedly has an 'anti bullying' policey - yeah right. Maybe I'll just start wagging school - go for a walk and find a nice tree to sit under and read a book. Maybe that will solve all my problems in life.

    Fay's Reef Tank

Lovely swallowtail I really like the pic of the flame hawkfish poking his head out of the coral. So cute

    Fay's Reef Tank

I'm loving the little dragonet  What species is he/she?
  8. Seriously that stuff will cloud your water like crazy if it gets into the water column. I bought a bag once and tested it in a bucket and decided that it was too messy and would be best only for a long-term setup like a dutch tank or something. I just wanted a bit to cap with some gravel for growing plants short-term until I can get a better tank. But then if I went to change things around or remove the substrate I could foresee the mess it wouldmake and I didn't use it and just turfed it into the garden. 3cm minimum, and I'd get something that packs together fairly well like fine sand. I've had great results from the JBL balls and they don't create any mess if they're disturbed.
  9. You'll need to cover that aquatic mix with at least 3cm of sand, and fill the tank very slowly, otherwise it will make a huge mess!
  10. I'm pretty sure they're Symphysodon aequifasciatus 'Uatuma'. Don't quote me on this though, as I'm no discus expert
  11. Wow those are the best looking discus I have ever seen !drool:
  12. Nope Still gonna try though... I really wanted Simon's one because it was from a different bloodline and those fish were very hardy so I wanted to breed it with my female from the recent import so I would have really hardy and good-quality fish.
  13. Sorry that these photos aren't the best of quality. The glass of the tank that they're in at the moment (which I am borrowing as I cracked my 150L) is scratched quite badly. Also the 8000K tube washes out the colours quite a bit but with just the AquaGlo the pics look pretty pink and it isn't bright enough on its own so I had to use the 8000K as well.
  14. No I don't have CO2, and I don't dose any fertilisers either. The pots have JBL balls and peat moss in them. I use an AquaGlo tube and an 8000K, which are both probably over a year old. Most of the stem plants and the Saggitaria aren't looking too good, but the Crypts are doing really well although growth is really slow.
  15. I just took these pics of Cryptocoryne cordata as there aren't any photos of its submerged growth in the database. I'll email them to you shortly Simon
  16. Brilliant idea Great work

  19. Wow I'm loving those Apistos !drool: Nice work
  20. @Zev, No it's not an Amano, it's by a guy called Radek Baszak Also I don't like it because of the whether it has special lighting for photography or not, but because of the composition of the layout and how it is really effective and it makes great use of such a small space  @Li@m, No it's not the best tank I've ever seen either, just the best Mini-M I've ever seen A Mini-M is a dimension that Amano commonly uses for a lot of his nanos, and it is a very popular size that a lot of people overseas use. It measures 360x220x260mm.
  21. Best ADA Mini-M (360x220x260mm) I've ever seen !drool: It has ADA Solar Mini-M lighting, ADA Amazonia Powder, ADA ferts, Eheim Classic 2211 for the filter. KH 7, GH 4, NO3 1-5ppm, PO4 0-0.25ppm. It has only four plants - Hydrocotyle dissecta, Lilaeopsis novae-zelandiae, Eleocharis acicularis and Hemianthus callitrichoides, and is stocked with Ember Tetras, Hyphessobrycon amandae.
  22. N1CK said that the first one looks like Lilaeopsis novae-zelandiae, although I'd have to disagree as it looks too tall, and L. n-z is quite short. I'd say it is either L. brasiliensis or maurtitiana. I found an article on that last tank once, and it said that the stem plant was Rotala rotundifolia and the green stuff on the wood/rocks is Riccia fluitans which has been tied down to prevent it from floating.
