hi ive been play around with some guppys sites and there forums and this is what there said about it all GUPPY BOARD;; said Well, First of all bikiegirl, How old are these fry that all look like females? I have had several strains where the males don't color up and look like females until after 3-4 months old. To have a strain of guppies that produces all females or all males is very unusual to say the least. Several factors beside the obvious that genetics is involved here are: *1-The fry are too young to visibly tell males from females. *2-Water changes: If the water that the fry live in has not been refreshed several times a week, the build up of the female hormone (estrogen) may be at such elevated levels that it affects the normal development of male/female ratios. This has been proven by adding the female hormone estrogen to the tank water causing the males to develop up at a rate slower than the non-hormone males from the same drop. *3-You actually purchased a strain that was bred to produce more females than males. Although this is unlikely, there is a possibility that this may be the case. If we as breeders can by selective breeding attain traits of color, body size, and caudal dorsal shapes, than it is conceivable that one could breed a strain where the male would transfer more X (not Y) chromosomes to the off spring than normal. My question again, how old are these fry? and GUPPY TALK said ;;;I once experienced this same problem. There are few factors which could determine the sex of your guppies - Yes, increasing the temperature can help produce males, however this is not a sure-fire way of obtaining them. By nature, guppies usually produce more females than males. Your female guppy's diet may also play a factor in the sexual development of your fry - try live food or food that contains large amounts of protein (such as brine shrimp). Also, you may find that increasing the protein intake of your pregnant females can produce more males.

hi there r one lot bron on 29/6/03 and one lot on the 8/7/03 and one lot on the 3/8/03 what we seen is that there all got that anal fin that tells me that there r females right all am i wroug

hi again i just had a mate came in and look my fry and yep i was right there r all females lol he sat there for 2 hrs looking at them then he started to take one at a time out of the breeding trap and look at them and put them in my fry tank and yep he said all females .

will ive been surfing the net now for 2 days and still can not find out y ive only got female guppy fry im going to drop the temp to 22c and see if that works but if some one can help me here it wood be great ty is so lost on y

so why not consider 4.. 24x12x15 which will allow you a bit of latitude.

hi o k ill try that dennie as im in the need for some males now as it look like the there r all female as i can not see the litttle thingy the males got when i look at them and yep ill be in the market for some more tanks as i setting up a stand that will hold 8 20 lt tanks so if there is some one out there that can help with some tanks or with some one who can make them on the cheep it will be good im in auckland and all so seen today that my gold barbs have got eggs to i was luck i put them in a tank on there own there r now back in the big tank as im not sure if i can keep them in with the eggs . ty p;s the kids r nameing them lol will r trying to lol my son thinks it woohhhoooo when he seen them born the look on his face was p-less o and ty pegasus the site r lots of help ty

hi im one happy bikiegirl my red tail guppy just had 32 fry and she had them in a breeding trap she was setting in the trap for 4 days woohhhhoooo i all so got 11 one mth old fry to i find in the tank a mth ago by the look of the 11 one mth olds i got that r all female and r blonds im hoping that in the 32 i got i get some males as i need some , wooooohhhhooooo so happy. p;s i must be doing some thing right about dam time lol

yep all ok and aetting ok to but one of them did drop fry last night . it seems to be only the yellow guppy females the rest r ok .

hi ive been looking around this site about putting salt in the tank i got home about a hour ago and find 7 baby guppys in the tank so u went in to town and got a 20lt tank and put the water out of the big tank in to it but the pet shop ask me if i got salt in the tank as i ask him if he can tell me what is up with two of my fish as two of my guppys females who r yellow have got red gills there say it chould be me changing to water to much as i chang it ones aweek will (about 8lt of it i do )and i said no he said some about guppys (livebreeders) like it so if some one can help on this it wood be good ty. ps; sorry for the typos im not to good at the spelling thing

hi ive got a peppercatfish that look like it sick it keep sitting at the top the water and when i go to look at it it go to the bottom but it like it can not stay there it floats back to the top again ive been watch it now for 2 days and i all so see it shoot to the top and get air and shoots back down again is it normal for it to do this hope u can help ty

hi not sure if this help s or not but i put mine in a 3lt bottle (milk bottle)with the bottom cut off and run a air hose in to them and seat it in my tank watch is temp at 23 and there hatch in about 23hr hope it helps

hi again ty for that the tank is now at 15 with in the next two day im going to get it to 20 the fish love it there r moving fast around the tank and eat better now to one,s the tank is at 20 im going to wait for a week and then add some more guppys and again ty for all ur help ps; ive still got one guppy left(female) so i hope she will drop soon as now the water is hot ty again i wood not konw what to do if u ppl were not here ty

the axolotyls and mussels r in a diff tank and there r in cold water ive had there now about 3ys and the the paradise fish and the leopond fish r in one tank all the rest r in a 4ft tank and the three tanks r all cold water

hi im not happy now all my guppys died lost night, babys and all. i went to the pet shop to see y and there said it was becouse it was that cold lost night (5) that there lost some to so there said i to put a haeter in the tank and have the water about 12 -15 as it going to get very cold this year do u ppl think it a go thing to do or no as my fish or cold water tropicals and i not to sure if that is good for them plz help :oops: sorry for the typos spelling not to good as u can see in some of the post on here :oops:

o ok cool i like this site it help me alot ive now only got two fry but there r doing will but ive not seen them eat so im not sure if there will live but o far so good im happy i got them the breed it bit of a bugger i only got two only of it but it the frist time for me so im happy i got it to work may be next time i get more ty

pass i just got the trap today and to be silly i but one of the guppys in it and she started to drop on me so i think i did soem thing wroug again umm do u know when i should or what to look for befor she drops i now got 7 females to 3 male the one that just drop in the trap i had for about 2 mths now sorry i was just been silly by putting her in the trap to show the kids how there work and she started to drop her fry in there funny the way it happin lol

um do i started feeding them now ?????

um i forgot to ask how and when do i feed them and on what ??? and still need to know y there 7 died on me only got 3 now bugger it all will i now know i can breed them all i got to do now is keep them alive lol

hi one of the guppy had fry today but she only had 9 but out of the 9 there all but 3 died i but she in the breeding traps and i started to have her babies but only 9 is that rihgt i toke her out after about 1 hr of the lost one she had and she not had more as i can she i put her in a new tank on she own just to be on the save side and nothing so i think that it what i wood like to know is y did there die is it some thing i did ????

hi will there need to be in a tank on there own or r there ok in a tank with 4 guppys,2 paradise fish ,2 gold barbs,2 peppered catfish,2 zebra danios ,2 white clouds, 4 leopard fish ,2 leopond danois. 2 mussells got a breeding boxs thingy for the females it sticks to the side of the tank is that ok for them ty
