when growing up my parents had 5 boxers over the years. i love boxers, such charactors. they have 3 now. one was a rescued one from someone that was neglecting him. one day i will get one. need a bigger yard first

I think you need way more lighting. if you get the plants growing well you wont have to worry about algae because the plants will use up the nutrients. i dont think the 4 hour plus 2 hour break on the lighting is a good idea. it doesnt sound very natural. i think it would probably be better doing 8 hours in one go. i have a 250l planted tank with 108w fluros running 12 hrs and i dose with PMDD every few days, and im throwing out clippings every week. not a spot of algae growing!

I think that maybe they can see there reflection and think its another fish? they are like "man thats a hot looking fish...i want some of that :P"

I have heard that a UV filter will oxidize iron...Fe+2 --> Fe+3, not too good for plant growth.

i had some clown loaches in my tank for a week and they didnt show any interest in eating the snails. so i crushed some to "teach" them what to do...2 weeks later and theres no sign of snails.

i brought 2 species of killies from tim. hes a good guy. he packages them well...they made it alive to nelson I havent had any problems keeping killies. just like any fish, they like nice clean water.

Never change the gravel with the fish still in the tank... im missing a glowlight tetra lol. i think hes under 6cm of gravel. i might find him one day :roll:

since putting 6 killies into my community tank i have had 4 guppies swimming around with chunks taken out of there tails i even witnessed a killi try to take on a bristlenose catfish that was 4-5 times its size. the killi latched onto the catfishes tail. didnt do any damage but it looked funny. maybe i should feed them :roll:

A friend and i are keen to get our hands on some Nothobranchius Rachovii eggs. does anyone have any or are going to get some in the near future?

i dont think i can make it to the tasman meeting. my wifes birth parents are coming over from aussie so we have to spend some time with them ie dinner. im gutted that i will miss the meeting. caryl....dont worry about the plants, i will get them from you another time. or maybe i could do a trip over the hill one weekend and check out your tanks and have a coffee and some macarrons

i just thought that it was cheaper if u were in a club first. because the application form says "I am a financial member of the______________________________________________ FNZAS affiliated society, and they will pay a capitation fee on my behalf for 20007 - 2008 financial years." i guess it works both ways for each club. thanks for clearing that up. i will send the money through tonight(might not get to the person untill tomorrow night because of banks ways of doing stuff)

hey guys. i havent joined the nzka yet as im waiting for the next meeting at the nelson aquarium club. and then i will join the nzka so that it will be cheaper. i have recently bid on a trio of APHYOSEMION STRIATUM on trademe. the auction closes tomorrow. so hopefully in the new owner of these fish. my sister recently moved house and gave me her empty 25L tank....perfect for breeding/ raising while the adults are in my main 250l community tank.

you were going to bring me some red rotara or something that sounds like that...but i would gladly accept any type of plant. im wanting to fill me tank up with as many different ones that i can. chockie bickies for plants....if only the lfs would do that.

i did a search for nigeratum killifishes but i couldnt find any information on that type of killifish...what does that fish look like?
