  1. look forward to it lynnie redwood aquatics stock the round bubblers. i prefer the round ones to the triangle ones. they just act as an extra small filter as well as giving you the air supply. win win really.
  2. thanks. a friend of mine mentioned ballentynes too. will go check both places out
  3. yes please. any suggestions would be great. thanks
  4. no worries. the bubblers are great. most people run them with stones in the bottom and filter sponge but i prefer to fill them with the bio noodles as i find its easier to clean. they are around the ten dollar mark and i think masterpet supplies them. currently i only have them in a 3 foot tank but thats soon going to change, as soon as i shift some tanks around and get appropriate housing............I need shells............
  5. they are ranging from 5-6cm. these two just posed for the camera. which was amazing.
  6. it is just a bubble filter. i was pretty stoked to find these guys. totally awesome . hopefully it works out and i can breed from them in the future
  7. I finally managed to get hold of some altolamprologus compressicep gold heads.
  8. and these guys are poisonous if we get pricked by there fins? if eaten by another fish like an arrow would it kill them like when someting bigger eats a pufferfish as I have heard from the toxins?
  9. um yeah. he is only about 6cm and i had nowhere to put him till i sort tanks out for my next move so he went in with my baby cichlids of 2cm...............tasty wee snack he has just had lol. big fat round belly now. I am hoping to keep him with an arowana , borneo tiger, and something else when i figure that out
  10. I would like to know who has one of these uglies and what they keep them with, and if people keep one or more together. I have just bought one, thought it was so ugly I had to have it.......very cool. :bounce:
  11. thank you for the imput. I have a supply of meds to treat them with so its not really a money issue for me. I am aware that if they do survive they will never reach the full growth potential they should get to as already stunted. If they can get better I will just keep these ones for myself as I do not like the idea of selling an unwell or deformed/stunted fish. I have surrounded the tank with background pics to stop so much reflection and they have a few plants in there. They are eating well and appear to be happy even though they are on there sides. I hope to do a few more treatments and lots of water changes and hope for the best. in saying this if in a months time no improvements then I will remove them from misery. I have only had these guys for a week now. I think its sad that they ended up like this where as if they had been properly looked after they would have been seperated a long time ago to prevent them from being stunted. I am just curious how long it will take for the worms or flukes what ever it is that im finding on the glass bottom each day to get out of there system. they certainly look a lot better from the treatment every day.
  12. Thanks for your opinion but I am actually asking for help here not a dig at me. if a fish can be saved then I am more than happy to try. that is why they are in a Quarrantine tank. therfore the disease can not be spread to other fish in the shop if seperate fish stuff is used, and sterilized. as for my reputation Im not hiding the fact that they are sick and it shows people what a sick discus looks like which is a learning lesson for some. These are not for sale of course, just there to be fixed if they can.
  13. here are the flounder discus that was the bung ones out of a batch. TINY. FLAT and BLACK!!!!! boy i got a shock when i saw these ones. the people i got them off are like "oh they are fine they always lie on there sides. they like to do that! ever since they hatched" i raised my eyebrows and was like "OH YEP" and took them anyway. sepearted into own tank now and still acting like weirdo's. have treated with metro tabs and droncit twice now. glass bottom is covered in white baby poo worm things im assuming every morning since i have dosed. which i guess is a good thing they they are getting it out of there system. 4 out of the 10 are now upright and the rest are flat and black. not sure if they will come right but fingers crossed. any other suggestions? people look at these weirdo's and are like "what on earth are they?" I can only shake my head in embarrassment and say "uh very sick discus and dont buy them if they look like this" im shocked to see the little buggers are still hanging onto life actually! here are the pics lol
  14. Ok here are the photo's of the discus. any ideas peoples? all are nice and healthy, eating well and all are for sale.
  15. Can anybody tell me a main difference between a blue/red turquoise and a checkerboard discus? I bought some young ones and got told the mother was a red turq and father was a blue turq. they both looked the same to me just varied in pattern a bit. the young ones i just assumed were turqs but could not help but wonder if they actually were then someone else said they look a lot like checkerboards. Im not sure if the black bars have anything to do with telling them apart or not but these ones have 5 or 6 bars when they decide to show them. I will get some pics tomorrow and put them up. I would really like to know exactly what kind they are.
  16. And here is FINGERS my fire eel.....he finally came out. now you can see how big he is sorry for the bad pic but he just would not listen to me when i asked him to stay still.......had to coax him out with food and he was eying up me fingers the blind old geeza!
  17. Yes it is good to have them home. i missed them the last few months. My leopard fish is around the 12cm mark i guess and is rather humerous to watch. yeah gotta laugh at the coral background. after i put it on i realised i had put it the wrong way round. every time i look at it it just annoys me i will get round to changing it one day....ten years later..........
  18. best friends......while mr Munchy munchy is not hungry
  19. here is gingis the leopard cen...pama....something or rather (some help please i forgot and cant find it on google  what a cool fish but slow to grow and here is snot rag the borneo tiger another slow growing fish but loves the wee babies he gets for food and lastly mr munchy munchy my arrowana who is getting bigger - would like some help on the fins please.....since he was half this size he developed a hole in the top of his fin near his body which will not heal (you can just see it in the pic i think. I wanted to add a pic of fingers my giant fire eel who is about 2 foot but he is having a kindy nap amongst the rocks and cant get a good pic.
  20. Hey ya. Currently I have got 4 small eels together in one tank. A fire eel, tyre track eel, zebra eel, and a peacock eel. all around 10cm and getting on fine. Have been told also fire eels do not like other fire eels, in my tank the fire and tyre track share the inside of a bubbler filter and the other peacock and zebra have been seen to share a cave. Interesting to see what will happen when all get bigger as my friend said her small trye track eel waster her bigger fire eel.
  21. I would like to know why people choose to get rid of there alpha male fronts. Why not keep the main dominant male and get rid of the other males bar one so it leaves the dominant one and the next dominant one below it? I am discovering confrontation in my frontosa tank as they are breeding now and showing signs of aggression with the main male and the smallest male. I have 3 males in total and rest are girls. ( i have noticed lately a wee bit of fighting amongst the girls too) I believe it may be time to remove one of the males but want to find out first as I have often seen single alpha male fronts advertised for sale. CHEERS
  22. more room to move and just look way better.
  23. Awesome. thanks very much for the offers. nice to know there are people out there willing to help others when can. have pm'd waiting on more details form the buyer. Would quite happily give the person a few of my fish babies to take home if they wish in exchange for helping out.
  24. Any help in this area would be great. I am looking to find someone that is going to be travveling from chch to wellington in 4-6 weeks time. earlier or later could work too. I have a puppy that is going to wellington all expenses will be paid for. Anyone else in wellington looking for a purebred staff pup, I have one male left which the flight cost of $165 could be divided in half by the buyer of this one. Thanks 8)
  25. well i set up two tanks. one little one indie with an air stone, there water little bit of tap water and some weed. they are doing ok, babies still alive. lost one of the bigger shrimp bust still have three alive. second tank is outside full of there water, tap water and weed. i think i smothered them with too much weed and lost over half the babies and a few bigger ones. took some weed out and today there is not many babies left. maybe they need air stone......salt......? or i have polluted there water from all the dead bodies on the bottom floor..... :-?
