  1. I was on the hunt to find some daphinea and instead stumbled across an area absolutely swarming with shrimp. I did not know what they were at first these tiny things swimming around. thought they were dragon fly babies.....then in the net i caught this weird looking see through thing. my partner said it was a shrimp. I thought wow thinking it was just an odd one to go with the baby flounder i caught earlier. we managed to catch about 5 more. got home and had a closer look at these swimy things and realized they were baby shrimpies. how cool! just wondering if you can successfully keep these creatures in a tank and how big they grow to and what they eat. I have seen some sold on trade me and always wondered where they came from any info would be great.
  2. yeah im not impressed at all. I assume a lot of people have bought food from this person because its cheap and i had my food the first time within 3 days which is why i went back again to get more..........bit rude not to return any of my emails. Have contacted tm but dont know what they can do as i have never been in this situation before. it would be polite to return my money or give me the food.
  3. who is this person? on trade me they sell really good 1kg flake food in auckland with free shipping. have delt with them before and this time have had no contact then i find out they have been disabled..............paid for my goods and heard no word........how many other people are there that have bought food off this person in the last two weeks and have paid and not recieved there goods? absolutely gutted! and without food for my poor fish!
  4. what is the main thing people use to treat a fish that has worms......have a couple of fish that are real skinny and wont put on the weight. Metro? from the vet?
  5. great. thanks heaps. that helps me out.
  6. just realized I did not get all the eggs out of her mouth......she still got a few, had a small shock thinking 'what? another one holding?' but nah she can stay there with the other one. boy what i mish taking her out. holding her trying not to get jabbed by her sharp fins, stuck my toothpick in her mouth to open it, she squirmed and clamped down on the toothpick!! strong fish allright. gonna be interesting when they fully grown. I assume the eggs are fertalized......can see a small dot in each egg, some are oblong. All still looking good
  7. Well today I thought i would have a fiddle and make my own tumbler contraption........ wee experiment going on here. I stripped one front and got 18 eggs which are now tumbling (first time trying tumbling) and have left the other front in tank holding just out of curiosity to see if she will hold naturally for 10 days. worth a go. heres hoping!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. wow could not believe my eyes yesterday when i saw eggs in one of my bigger fronts mouth........then today another of the bigger females is holding. just curious to know how long fronts hold for before people take them out. (not expecting them to hold full term but fingers crossed) I would like to take them out when the babies have a head and tail and rest egg sack. would 10 days be too early for these guys? The process has started. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! 8)

  16. If my house does get pest sprayed....have not had this done before....how will this affect all my fish tanks? will they be safe if i cover them and turn off the air pumps?
  17. Hey wasp. yes its starting to look more like beetles by the sound of it. Have let my landlord know and he is going to get back to me. I assume he would have to get pest control to spray the house then could possibly claim insurance on the eaten carpet. Apparently it is a health risk? Eww carpet beetles!!!!!!!! never come accross this before
  18. 8) looking for a flatmate to share a 3 bedroom house with fish friendly tank addicted person  on the off chance someone may be interested from here i will provide one room just for your tanks. replys by pm asap please.
  19. Hey caryl. Did show my landlord one of the bad rooms when my flatmate moved out. he did not say much but i feel guilty as i dont like causing damage to a house. I hope this could not be taken out of my bond or have me up for new carpet. but the house is old if you can remember lol weather boards rotting around me....
  20. thanks dime bag. I have been here over 2 years. noticed these cocoon things about a year ago. carpet was fine when i moved in but its getting worse. i find the house may be damp and possibly carpet feels damp to walk on in places. under house is just dirt i think, and floor boards might be rotting? maybe this is whats causing it....... I dont often see the moths flying around but sometimes little moths. I would vacumn then two weeks later in a diff area there will be more cocoons. Did spray one room with a pet and bedding spray for fleas, ticks, lice e.t.c but they still come back. just wonder why you cant buy moth balls anymore. would carpet shampooing help the situation?
  21. :-? i have a big problem of carpet moths in my house all around the skirting boards and behind tanks e.t.c I vaccumn up all the cacoon things and see a patch of carpet eaten away. My landlord is gonna kill me and i cant find any moth balls to buy. Anyone have any solutions to help get rid of them please? i will be moving out of the house and there will be no carpet left  not a good look!
