    silica sand

i am thinking of redoing my tank with lighter substrate, maybe fine calcite like my other tanks or silica sand and with some crushed corals in my filter. is there any downside of using silica sand? It's for African cichlids tank. Any suggestion is much appreciated
  6. is Discus bloat same as malawi bloat? If they are similar, and can be treated with metro, u can go to the vet at Hornby Veterinary Centre. Well, they will change you $45 for consultation fee and they will only prescribe to you if u bring your fish in. Good luck with your fish
  7. i do think this comment is a bit harsh and it's not cool to crucify someone who is wanting to help out (my opinion), and also appreciate HummingBird and cichlid7 standing up for their opinion with reasoning. I am not trying to offend catfish lovers out there, but with the special case of bristle nose, there are some fish keepers out there that are not intending to breed them. A bristlenose is just there to act as the clean up crew. HomerandMarge has clearly state that these fish come from a golden and normal bristlenose parents, so i think 'many other' 'un-ignorant' fish keepers out there is aware of this when selecting the fish they want to breed. HomerandMarge, good on you spreading the love around and being honest about the parents of the fish.
  8. i think ryan has cover most of the scientific name. i've also heard of dragon blood peacock being called strawberry peacock
