hang on I thought we had tarantulas here already legally? why would you import them illegally?
I thought we only had dead ones

i have done quite a lot of research on pterophyllum in their natural habitat and would like to see a report on finding and catching a strain of marble angels in the wild.
not doubting anyones veracity but would be interested for a reference
Dont forget about zebra lace angels
-
why don't you believe him Dixon? I've read on his posts here (this site) that he has an importers license and I've seen his huge fishroom and he told me in person he has imported a lot of fish from the wild.. i have no reason to doubt him as he's been breeding and growing fish for a long time and is certainly no novice.
Its most likely a case of him being shipped something wrong and he doesnt want to believe he was sent the wrong thing.
Also his auction is the only mention of 'wild' marble angelfish on the web.
-
dixon, you are probably acusing the wrong person with that auction, better make sure you have the facts!
i do , i have asked the people on finarama- the pterophyllum forum.
They have informed me that all marble varieties are linebred and all wildtypes that have been discovered are striped strains

phil? as in evilelmo?
Nah, as in nzdiscusman

Poor
You?
i wish

If indeed you do mean the P. caudomaculatus leopardfish then I would not put them together. Leopardfish are cold water species and the Bettas are tropical.
Dont some people keep bettas in unheated tanks around 18-20 though?
-
thanks - I was hoping you might answer as I know you have or have had leopard fish.
Have, lost heaps in a filter failure, trying to build them up to a decent amount again
-
Should do if bettas can live happily in around 18-20 degrees.
It would be just like keeping bettas with guppys minus the long tailsthat look like betta food
Although the male leopardfish may try breed with the betta

Koi are a pest in NZ, and your are fined for owning them.
Maybe we're talking about different kois
-
giving you a species name is hard, but a colour name might be easier
try here for some photos for reference
Species name is easy, We realy only have pterophyllum scalare here
-
Yep just a bare tank. when they are ready to spawn, pop them in so they can do their thing, leave them 1 day, then move them back to their main tank.
Hmm, i tried that in a 35L, but there was still not enough room for the other to get away if they had a argument.
60L seemed to work
-
call them peruvian altums.
the rest of the country does
Theres no spots silly!
I would just call them Pterophyllum Scalare
-
Me
-
hey yeah i know but they wont listen
Put your mouth in the water and they will hear you better
-
Decided against it.
They're a nice addition in my big tank so I'd like to keep them there for now.
I have got 120L tank setup atm with only 2 platies in it, BUT its for figure eight puffers (which I don't have atm )
Going brackish?

Are you sure you're not talking about L046/Hypansictrus Zebra?
