  1. There was another similar thread the other day. The book I have "Ecology of the planted aquarium" has a lot of technical info about everything that's going on in the tank. Anyway, the main message about green water algae is that the conditions in the tank are favouring the algae rather than the plants. If you get more plants, and get them growing really well, then they should eventually out-compete the algae. I have 4 tanks, all of which have had green water at some time, and only the newest one is still a problem. The one that was worst is now great with heaps of plants growing and crystal clear water. And sited between window and ranch slider. I know how frustrating it can be - you do a water change and within a day or so it's worse than ever. Be assured that so long as it doesn't reach saturation point it's not going to hurt the fish. It's only a visual problem.

That would help is the problem was 'Green water' the algae, But it seems to be the Wood leaching tannins.

Which is completely different to algae.

  2. I used to have a couple of Big Chocolate Gourami's, have to say they were the biggest Gourami's I've ever seen, seem to grow alot bigger than the others.

Haven't seen them round for years :(

You sure you're thinking of the same 'chocolate gourami'?

They arent a very big gourami species, smaller than all the golden, blud, threespot and pearl gouramis and the like

  3. Well...

Some stuff has comeup, resulting in me working for the next few days.

But.. My uncle(builder) has offered to build the frame for me, so then all i need to do is attach the mdf and paint it.

Probably wont have it done by when i wanted, but it will be done :)

  4. I have an Aqua One Aqua start 500 (60l), under gravel filter, heater etc which I scored off Trademe established for $90, including 14 Neon Tetra's.

So far have only lost two tetra's in the 2 months have owned the tank, to that Neon Tetra disease as far as I know :(. The rest of them look healthy!

I doubt it was NTD(neon tetra disease)

If your tank got NTD it wouldnt have only killed 2

I had what i thuoght was NTD about a year ago in a 60L tank and i was just continuously losing neon tetras, the count got to about 15 in total.

    And Welcome :D

  5. well there you go Lyndy cos you are so clever you get a free pass straight ahead, don't worry about the cow. just keep an eye out for the duck though

The ducks harmless, Because when one leg is both the same it cant do any harm.

That Fence post though.. Gotta watch them.

  6. Maybe you cld bag the fish and transport in a chilli bin?

Definately remove gravel from tank, put in buckets perhaps.

No water in the plant bags - it will bruise the plants.

i will put water in plant bags

i thought i didnt have to take out the gravel as its only up the road im moving 1 mintue in the car

    :-?

Moving a tank with gravel is a bad idea, even in smallish tanks.

  7. HMMM now straight down the middle could just be the answer

Going straight ahead will require you to go through the meadow with the crazy ninja cow.

And the chosen one could only just beat it, So avoid the meadow.

    Just go left

  8. The question is Dixon

Do you have a holler?? :bounce: :P

Yeah i think theres a few in the top left draw, easy for me to get

But for you lyndy, it would be a problem. You know, being on the left and all you would get a little confused  8)
