  1. yea so do I. shes part of a group of 6 and I am trying to get some more pairs that I can breed with. I currently have 1 pair of yellow leleupi that are breeding well in a 3ft by themselves. last batch of eggs I hatched from them gave me 200+ fry heres a pic of the father:
  2. Neolamprologus Leleupi
  3. There are demasoni and E.yellows in with them, defanitely leleupi eggs as i was watching her breed by herself. And leleupi eggs are white in colour.
  4. this female decided that she wants to go solo and she wont let any males breed with her. Shes inexperienced as its her first time so hopefully she'll realise that she needs a male

    Baenschi Male

Thought Id share a pic of my male who is starting to get a bit more colourful. has anyone else got any pics of their males? Callum
  6. Nice Fish does look like a male to me, here are my pair during spawning hope they breed for you.
  7. Hope the fish are doing well? Callum kept the parents with other Tangs and Malawi's until the pair bonds formed. Then put them into a 2ft to breed them, as the do take over a tank when they start breeding. We had a similar thing where a pair of bricardi had all the dolphins, red shoulder peacocks, kadangos and electras in 1,5 ft space of our 5ft while they had a cloud of fry..... If you just want to keep a mixed collection, try sort them out to all of the same sex, this can be difficult and will really come down to trial and error. Good luck with them and let us know how you get on. Dave
  8. Yea the ones i got off you were all males and out of the ones I got off Andrew I only got one female, and yea I managed to find somebody breeding the Orange ones. Doch they should start breeding by aroung a year and a half old.
  9. hey guys I just thought I'd share how i've started breeding these fish with good success. First I bought a couple of juveniles a while ago (thanks Andrew) and then some additional adults (thanks Ryan) and as they reached around 6cm a pair bonded and they would keep spawning , but I'd never see any babies. So I put them in a three foot by themselves and a week later they spawned in the flower pot. But once again the parents ate the eggs. So the next time they spawned, I took the eggs away from them and hatched them myself with an airstone in a bare bottom tank and in a couple of days they were wrigglers. A day or two later they were free swimming and were eating brine shrimp very eagerly. Around a month later they reached 8mm (slow growers) and were enjoying newley free swimming jewel cichlid fry (easily bred live food). From then on I put them in a two foot tank with fine sand and some coral and in a couple of days their colour changed from a plane brownish to an intense yellow. Only a handfull have made it in the tank with the adults, breeding naturally. So now every third or so time the pair spawn I just repeat the proccess and now I have hundreds of the little buggers from 3mm to 4cm. here are some pics parents spawning newly hatched fry Free swimming fry one week old 4cm juveniles around 4 months old cheers

  11. just thought I might share a pic of my pair guarding their fry.
  12. Hi you can take them away from the parents at a very early age but when they get to 2cm+ they eat too much and eat all the good conditionindg food that you mainly want for the parents. All depends on how many babies you have and how big the tank is. currently have a nother batch of eggs that cover a 15cm by 20cm piece of slate. Cheers Callum
  13. Has anyone tried freezing BBS in a very thick solution? Callum has been experimenting with this and found it a good solution to make them last, with time constraints sometimes to get a fresh batch on the go every few days. So far works a treat, has been feeding baby tangs, demasoni etc. Interested in your comments? Cheers Dave

    Breeding

Yup no broblem there, I have five females with my male. Keeps him busy
  16. very nice Have you got the bulu point colour strain, I currently have around 150+ fry of the bright yellow coloured leleupi and they are just so cool. Couple of people have told me that the young are very hard to raise and that they start killing eachother when they reach around 1cm, have you had any problems with this? Callum
  17. yup but if they start breeding they may get too agressive.
  18. yup those are the ones they are a really nice fish ae but they get really agressive when they stert breedind just like the brichardi.I got a pair of brichardi with the haps an peacocks in the 5ft and they have started to spawn, already on their second brood I think the only thing is that they keep the other fish on the other side of the tank, quite a waste of space really. So I'm gonna put the pair in a 2ft lol
  19. hey guys everyones pulchars are looking great heres a few pics of my pair that are currently in the 3ft and are breeding like mad. female male I have got three pairs of the little things but the other two are just in 2fts and also breeding heaps so yea Dixon1990 2ft would be fine but you'll have to take the fry out occasionaly as it may get a little over crouded especially at the rate they breed at.

    Leleupi Fry

Hi everyone, my pair of bright yellow Leleupi are now in the four foot with with my baenschi adults. They kept on spawning in the flower pot but I never saw fry(most probably because they felt threatend by the other fish,I would put them on their own tank but I have no space until I can build another stand). So I took out the pot with around 200 white eggs and just put it in a fish bag, added some methylene blue and put an air stone in. Oh and I turned the pot on the side so it would allow more water movement over the eggs. A couple days later, I could see little tails, then the next day I could see little eyes. Today nearly the whole egg sack has dissappeared so tomorro I will move them to their "temporary tank" A 3litre Just Juice bottle with the top cut off and one of the sides replaced with thin fabric netting. This will hang on the side of the tank with an air stone, to allow their original water to pass through. Will 'Liquid Fry No.1' Be ok as food for them untill they're big enough to eat BBS? Does anyone know of a nother rearing food for them that I could try? Only one egg got fungi so I guess the males doing his Job right ae? Cheers Callum
