which - the chocolate zebra or the malaysian trumpet snail in the first shot
-
Thanks Ron but I can not take the credit for breeding these males - I said they were my breeders! I only bred the female. I lost the best of my fighters while on holiday and have had to pretty much start again. These all, bar the crowntail, came from a young forum member Jono who is moving overseas. I now have spawns from nearly all of them, matched to quality females with matching colours and tail types , and hope to continue on and improve the lines.

Is this a chocolate zebra? I have 3 types of plecs in my tank and I can't work out which is which! Thanks

I have a 5ft, 450 litre planted discus tank and run an fx5 with no problems at all. The outlet sits at the right hand side of the tank with the two outlet nozzles set at 90 degrees. The current doesn't worry the discus as they don't sit up at the top of the tank anyway. I have a couple of pieces of driftwood in the tank, one sitting by the outlet and the other floating. The only issue at all with the filter is that the discus insist on laying on the outlet pipe and as the young become free swimming they go up it!! Heres a pic.

I would still put him back with the parents. I used to get a dry mix from the pet shop for feeding baby finches, you dampen it and feed it to them. It replicates the natural food it would get normally. The parents may still try to feed it as well which will be better for it. If he can fly he should just about be able to feed for himself as well and maybe the parents are getting ready to lay again.

which one? The blue half moon (pic) above is a marble - heres a better photo and then theres this one - and heres a one of my other males and a young female hm

A few pics of some of my breeding males. I have 2 ct spawns and 1 hm spawn that have hatched and today the mustard gas hmpks spawned so heres hoping! The last photo is the only male that I have not yet bred from. Hope you like them

Its been a while since i had birds but if the young bird has its first feathers its parents have been feeding it becuase it would have died by now. I would put it in its nesting box into the cage with the adults. You will probably find that they are tending to it. You could try feeding it as well as the parents but its hard going!

Mine is quite loose so I have just padded it out with a kitchen scourer, it can't be seen and works well.

as alanmin says you can do either. Sometimes one parent will not tolerate the other around and you may have to move the adult that is being attacked.

ACC may be broke (although I hear they have $12 billion) but thats no reason to target or pick on one group of road users. Motorcyclists may suffer greater injury if they have an accident but perhaps the cause - 80% of accidents are caused by motor vehicles - should be targeted as well. A range of levies could be introduced for cars as well 1000cc or less $500, under 1600cc $750, over 2000cc $1000. Rest assured, when they have finished with motorcyclists another group will be next because it won't stop there. IMO Sports players particularly those playing contact sports should pay ACC levies as part of their sports membership. On another note - ACC pays out for ridiculous things and I'll site an example. My husband pulled out a tic which had attached to his wrist. 10 days later and there was a large red infected lump on his wrist where the tic had been. Off to A & E - he put down it was medical and the Dr told him it was ACC!!!! The main point is that is was set up as a no blame situation so therefore if blame is going to be placed does that mean we will now be allowed to sue?

Could there be something wrong with my BN.?
Adrienne replied to New_to_fish_world's topic in Beginners Corner
it is normal for them to do it occasionally so twice in a day is fine. if theres a lack of oxygen in the water they will come up and stay up. -
Heres some of the info from the Auckland rally today - ACC claims 'the levy on motorcycles should be $3700 each' There are 100000 registered motorcycles. That comes to $370 million. More than the total ACC cost for ALL vehicles for all active claims since 1974. ACC claims 'Every car driver subsidises motorcycles by $77' That works out at $250 million every year. But the total paid out by ACC for motorcycles is only $62 million. On that basis motorcycles wouldn't have to pay any levy. and this is from me (my opinion, please note) ACC was set up as a 'no fault compensation scheme which would pay for your rehabilitation to get back to work' and when they introduced ACC they removed the right to sue anyone responsible for any injuries they caused. If a cyclist or a rugby player has an accident atm they are rehabilitated under ACC, yet they pay no ACC levies. Now ACC is picking on motorcyclists to pay more than their fair share and are quoting facts and figures that are far from correct yet refuse to answer any questions put to them.
-
Was this put on here to provoke people and cause a reaction? People ride bikes not drive them for starters. Its not the fact that motorcyclists pay acc its the fact that its a no fault system and if the new legislation goes ahead as planned you'll be riding your pushbike along and paying to do it in case you have an accident and need rehabilitation. Whats a passing bay?

Attention motorcyclists (scooters and bigger)
Adrienne replied to Adrienne's topic in The Off Topic Fishroom
This is the same as the auckland protest. In an effort not to alienate motorists by riding as a group along the motorway all motorcyclists will make their own way to the event. However there will be a significant police presence near the event and the traffic lights off the motorways should be aiding the smooth flow of bikes. My son tells me that the wellington group have been given permission to enter the grounds of parliament by the speaker of the house. -
Post a pic if you can under the catfish section lower down the forums and you're sure to get some help or try googling the planet catfish site.

Any motorcyclists among you? Branches around the country are taking part in this and everyone who rides a motorcycle or would like to show support is welcome. For riders within reach of Auckland Join us on Saturday at the Ulysses Club National ACC Fees Protest Ride-in Day Motorcycle interest groups, motorcycle industry, motorcyclists. TelstraClear Pacific Centre, Manukau, on Saturday the 31of October at 11am. Assembling from 9am. Hoping to get at least 3000 bikes there on Saturday morning. I'm going, I'm sure Whetu will be there too.

how would you flower it?
-
Hows it going? I've now a second spawn of ct free swimming. Between the two spawns at this stage there are between 300 - 400 fry. Word of warning. If you are going to breed are you prepared for this many. Survival rate in my tanks is normally about 95%. I do still however have one set of fighters mustard gas hmpks that have not spawned. She is not remotely interested despite the nest being about 25cm in size!
-
I would say he's a dt cross. Is he yours? I have rosetails but they don't have the distinct split that he has half way down the tail.
-
with siamese fighters it happens when the ammonia levels get too high.
-
I was actually trying to point out that it doesn't always work. My shed that only had 2 tanks up 8 days ago now has 7 running - 4 fighter tanks, a discus breeding tank, a L270 setup and a young sterbai quarantine tank. Fighter breeding will happen for you both, you just have to be patient and leave them alone to do their thing.

Greg has said before that he is happy to have his contact details given out

Bad luck Sam I popped a pair of ct together on Sunday morning, let her out of the container on Sunday night. When I got home from work yesterday afternoon they had spawned and this evening the fry have hatched and are now keeping dad very busy picking them up and putting them back in the nest. However the pair of ct and the pair of mustard gas plakats I put together yesterday are still only remotely interested in each other so we will see. And this is from someone who was going to slow down breeding fighters and only breed twice a year!!!
