  1. I don't believe it. All my years of keeping fish and being not as vigilant about things have finally biten me in the butt. I have just lost 2xclown loaches and 3x yoyo loaches becasue the tank was not properly cycled. That'll teach me! I'm so angry with myself, they were bloody beautiful fish. Arrggghhhhh!
  2. Hmm guess I'll have to be patient
  3. good o. Thanks. The loachs think its great having all the crevaces to perch in mid wayup the tank.
  4. I have added 2 new pieces of wood into my tank, I thought they were water logged from the horrible rain I had left them out in, but no. Refilled the tanks after the move and the blinkin things have popped up and hovering mid tank. How long will they take to sink?
  5. I found severums really good with oscars. The tiger datnoid looks really cool, but I wonder whether it will go ok with oscars. Having fish with not much pattern make the oscars more of a show. I also had tinfoil barbs with oscars (different tank to sev's), they grew bloody big though and needed a few of them to keep them happy. You're tank will look great.
  6. I think you'd be better off going for 4 instead of 3. I had 3 and one of them was forever getting ppicked on until I got another one to even things up. If you have the space it would be worth it
  7. WEll woke up this morning and their rock was all clear of eggs, and they weren'tt guarding the area anymore...guess some other fish got a meal. Well at least I know that they will 'do' it, and next time I might put them in an isolatoin tank and see if they do better.
  8. Got some wonderful little fish off Antwan a while back and they have spawned. are there any special requirements for them? I'm going to do a google search now and get better informed.
  9. I thought that - never mind, I will be striping it back as soon as I can anyway. The crack hasn't grown any. The sealant I used was aquarium sealant taht I got from living waters, but the instructions said use on dry clean glass. I was in a rush to get something on there so didn't hunt around other shops for underwater stuff, and didnt' want to risk poisoning the fish. Cheers for all the advice
  10. I have normal rounded gravel and the loaches are ok with that, you also need to have more than one clown loach otherwise it will get sad. I hve 3 clowns and 3 Yoyo loaches - they are so cool to watch.
  11. Clown loaches, dwarf cichlids, bristlenose, some more gourami - dwarfs cause they have some groovy colour variants. Filters - i have fluval and aqua one, and I think they are both great. The Aqua filters are much cheaper so thats what I would go for. yay so many decisions...have fun!
  12. Well made a bit of a hack of it. However the patch will do the job until I am better placed to strip the panel off and replace it. I put the patch on the exterior because I wasn't able to find any sealant that I could safely put int he water with the fish...it only has to look ugly for a month or so. Cheers again for the advice.
  13. WOO HOO!!! :bounce: thats just the information was I wanting to hear! Thanks Pegasus and Inside Ocean. The tank has both back and front as 'show' sides, have got it like a divider between lounge and dining. But as you say after the tank settles in, a patch wont be that noticeable. Cheers everyone
  14. The exterior surfaces of the corner are ok - no chips. It looks like a crack in just the front panel. I know what I have to do, but was hoping that someone on here would give me a solution other than replacing panel......
  15. I have just finished moving house and set up 4 of the 7 tanks. Have just noticed a crack in the front of one of the tanks. It is one third of the way up the front panel, on the edge. Its not leaking, and hasn't split further than the silicone seal. The tank size is approx. 100cmx50cmx40cm, 6mm glass. I have the tank setup with fish all happy. What are some quick fix preventative options (are there any?). I can not be totally sure that the split/crack wasn't there before because it was not in a position where I could scrutinize like now. If anyone has some suggestions I would appreciate it .
  16. Not too sure of kelvin etc of lights. I have a daylight bulb and one that is more purplish. i will sit back and see how they change.
  17. I had read that, but both of them at the same time.... they still are lovely fsh because of their finage, but the colour is not as attractive now. THey actually look a little like the panda ones you see about
  18. I have had these 2 blue fantails for over a year, so they must be close to 2 years old. They were a fantastic colour, their finage is perfect - great looking fish. I had to isolate one of the other fish in the tank because they were harrasing it - I thnk the ohter is female and these 2 are males. Noticed a week or so ago they are starting to lose the metallic blue. Has started from teh underbelly and they are going more a silver. I have a chocolate in the same tank and there is no change in him. Whats going on? I have heard of goldfish changing colour but have never had it happen. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  19. Whoops  logged on here too late...no fear still a little algae on the back glass. I figured that they would be grazing on what was in the tank. Will leave things alone from now on (well atleast until they are much bigger).
  20. Hi, I have bought 3 tanks from Goldfishman. Great to deal with, and tanks are good too. I got the standard 1 year guarntee on them, but as someone has mentioned earlier in the thread, if it has gone 12months trouble free all should be good.
  21. THanks everyone. I wanted to get rid of the algae in the front glass, because I like to be able to see them darting around - I'm still getting a buzz from watching the slightly larger than comma size things in the tank. I had tried scraping it off, but the fry kept hanging around my hand. Will hunt out some air tubing and give it a go on the weekend - they are going so fast.
  22. Thanks spidersweb. Yeah this is the first experience with fry this small, at least the guppy and severum fry I have had before were a little bigger and I was able to miss them when cleaning. I will add some snails and that should make a little difference. Thanks again for the advice.
  23. I have about 40 x week old dwarf gourami fry in a 20L tank with a sponge filter. There is some java moss and floating weed in there, bare bottom. The sides of the tank are starting to get a little algae on them, and the bottom too, I really really want to clean the tank, but do not want to risk losing the fry - their mother died so I am hoping to be able to replace her from this lot. I'm even too scard to syphon water because they are so tiny. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. cheers
  24. I have cannibalism in my guppy tank. I had some lovely snakeskin ones which diappeared. Aren't those blimmin tri colours a hardy strain! Every time I try to get some other strains they do no last and the tri colours hang in there
