  1. Hi JJ, That is a pin tail which is very hard to maintain and you will eventually get spear tails from breeding it, I used to have the spear tails but I considered them as rejects and gave them all to a friend in Auckland to cycle his tanks. I also recently sold some wild snakeskins with odd tails and one of them was a speartail. It is not rare and they still come out of my wild outcross breeding lines and I havent looked in that tank recently (heavily green water). Why the interest? Cheers, Cesar
  2. The Tropica site is good, it has all the ideal temps for plants they are selling.
  3. You can put in a pinch of copper sulphate which will kill all snails (and algae too), but still you end up with a stinking mess of dead snails and you will have to do a 100% water change to get rid of the copper sulphate and the dead snails. It will take at least 7 days to get rid of the snails, first day all adults die and 7 days for the eggs to hatch and hatchlings die when exposed. I would prefer the loaches method (more organic) where you can add fish as soon as convenient. Cesar

    HM?

A bit of a rosetail. Does it have even scaling?
  5. The guppys are in a private property (a motel resort) so it is not a good idea for a group of people descending on their property. Howerever, if I can find the other spots where the guppys are and not inside a private property, we can organise a "Guppy Hunt". That will be my mission for the holidays.
  6. Hi Zev, Your guppies are not swallowtails, they are just good delta tails that lost their CP gene that causes them to look like extended doubleswords. Cesar
  7. You can loose them from breeding as the males cannot breed. It is still in my genepool but has not come out recently. I gave heaps to other people that's why I'm posting this to find out if they still have them.
  8. Dimsum has them viewtopic.php?f=12&t=40984&start=15

  11. If they get impregnated they die on their first drop, or they get egg bound.

    PinGu Strain

Hey Luke, How are the Pingu's going?
  18. Oh by the way I bought the HC "Cuba" from HFF but they did not know what it was, but mine has since died. They had it as a stem plant instead of a crawling carpet plant because of weak lighting. A bigger HC called ümbrosum"is available in the auction site. It is a bigger version of "Cuba" and it also carpets like "Cuba" . http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 416725.htm
  19. Yes it is in NZ, but availability will be nil. I would try Glossostigma cleisanthum it is narrower than elatinoides and is also a native. I got mine from NIWA.
  20. Isn't that a Ranunculus limosella? I have some on my tank and they grow very fast.
  21. Hi Andrew, Welcome fellow Malaysia Guppy Club member to the NZ forum. I have been watching your guppies in the MGS, they are awesome! You should invite Jc in here as well. Cheers, Cesar
  22. Yep, you'll get Neon Blue tux and Yellow tux as well. Also, yes better to start with stock that do not have any defects. These are my young Red Tux. I used the better shaped male on the left and and tried to get rid of the black specks on the tail and add red on the dorsal, not much luck with his offspring and had to use the other male (the one on the right) whose characteristics are already fixed and had a better result, so if you want to breed to a certain look or standard, start with one that is really close to what you want to achieve.

    Snails

Yep, I used to eat them back home, very nice. The golden apple snails are tasteless compared to these! Nick, I know of fishkeepers back home (Philippines) who breed these snails, if you breed this one on sella (see the stripes) with the one they call mystery snails in the LFS, you can get different coloured snails from cream to blue and some with clear stripes! So you can have your BLUE snails.
  24. Hey Luke, Try asking Kelly Tarlton's for the clippings of berteroi, I know somebody who used to be in this forum did.
