I have got 2x 250W electronic metal halides and trying to firgure out the best way to wire them to a timer. I hear there are a couple of problems with some timers; unable to switch fast enough for the ballast and unable to handle the inital current a ballast draws. Was planning to run a standard timer to a relay which would feed the MHs but can't find a suitable relay. Do you know of any heavy duty timers capable of handling this? Or is there a better way to setup MH's with a timer? Thanks

How is it any different from the two part system. Instead of adding a teaspoon of Calcium Chloride to water, you add Calcium Hydroxide. Dump this in a reservoir and it will dose throughout the week. Then at the end of the week if the limewater didn't keep up, add a small amount of the two part system.

Thats kinda my strategy but with limewater. Topup with lime water, increasing concentration as demand grows. Once it is at full strength, use 2 part mix to keep levels up.

The skimmer's recommended water throughput is 800L/hr. Eheim 1248 = 600L/hr Eheim 1250 = 1200L/hr There will only be around 400mm of head. Which pump should I use? 1248 with a valve on the skimmer output for backpressure to lift the water level 1250 with a valve to throttle it back a bit KP
