  1. I removed the CO2 about 2-3 weeks ago. I have noticed that pearling has stopped. That's the only negative I think. Removed it because it ran out and I didn't think I needed it really. The ambulia looks much better without it.
  2. Thought an update would be good Here is my tank today. Many changes, too many to list. Some new fish, dwarf cichlid breeding has been going on, plants added and removed, CO2 unit removed. I just thought this was a good photo. Thanks for all your interests.
  3. Here are some bad quality photos (hardly seeable) of the fry. Only like 3 made it. However they are growing very quickly. Just feeding them brine shrimp for food and performing weekly water changes. And the parents
  4. Hi. My rotala macrandra isn't doing as well as I expected. As you can see in the photos below, the leaves in the middle of the stem are in a way, discolouring. The leaves should be red and pink but they are getting small patches of yellow and green on them. What may be the problem? There isn't anything covering the leaves, I add fertilisers once a week (flourish, iron and potassium), have strong light. Thanks in advance.
  5. I says file not found Till I did an edit. -Al 8)
  6. I have also successful in spawning my pair of Redtails. I started with about 40 fry but after an unsuccessful move I only have 3! They are in my bare AR 360 at the moment eating brine shrimp. Grown quite a bit now. Around 2-3mm.
  7. Hi Caserole and Johannes, I actually did get some fry. Now they are free swimming. Here is what I did. When I first moved them I got around 30 fry still with their egg yolks. Eventually all of them died. But lucky for me, the female managed to save around 12 fry from being siphoned. After seeing this, I left them for a while until they were free swimming (funny that the torpedo barbs didn't spot them) and a few days later I moved the fry into a spare tank. But I also moved the mother with the fry. And strangely enough, she is doing well with them. I spotted 2 or 3 fry dead today but I think that was because I couldn't feed them for 4 days after they finished their yolks. (I tried brine shrimp but they were too big, so I had to wait until liquifry came). I will get some photos up soon and do you think that liquifry 2 will be okay to feed instead of liquifry1? The only difference I see is that there is added spinach in the no. 2. Thanks
  8. i have. Bought one from Jansens for around $40.
  9. I managed to get a pair of Red tailed dwarf Cichlids (one of the 3 new types of dwarfs to come in a while ago). I put them in my 200L community and they spawned. I was lucky to get some fry as well. But the female moved all the fry out into the open. I was afraid that my other fish would eat the fry. I moved the fry to a spare bare tank and now they unfortunately are dieing. They were wiggling a lot before but now they don't seem to be that great. Could this be because they have so young? The fry don't even have eyes yet. Hopefully they will spawn again very soon.
  10. Awesome pics Hey Paul, do you think you can post a pic of your tank that the galaxies bred in?
  11. :-? The leaves die off by melting. They turn into a pale green colour.
  12. I give them some liquid ferts. such as Flourish, Flourish iron, potassium and there is JBL aqua basis fert underneath the substrate. Do you still think they will need root tabs/balls?
  13. I had some green compact fur like algae covered on my driftwood. The algae had a green colour to it. Now the algae is white. Does this mean that it is dead and therefore will reducing in growth?
  14. I have some red and tiger lotus but the leaves seems to continually rot away. So I cut all but one of the leaves and stalks down. New leaves grew but they still rot and die. The leaves get 1 or 2 roundish holes in them. The hole isn't completely punctured but it is like a greenish brown (colour of dead leaves) then the hole gets larger and larger until the leaf dies and turns into mush. It is odd because my lotus are the only types of plants that seem to suffer from this kind of problem. Any symptoms and or reasons on why this may be happening?
  15. Hi Great White Hand. Yes. The erythromycin definitely did work. Presently, I have no blue green slimy algae. And from the looks of it, it doesn't seem to be coming back. None of my plants were affected by it. I didn't over dose it though. It took about a week for it to completely disappear. Watch the green water issue. If it gets worse, you may have to get yourself a UV steriliser which will cost you a bit. :-? I still have green stringy algae but the amount has significantly decreased. I have added some more flying foxes which helps. I unfortunately still have a bit but seems to be decreasing. Let me know what you need to know.
  16. Sorry to hear about your neons.. :-? By the way you said nice and plump, it MAY have been dropsy. This is when the fish can not expel the fluids inside and basically blows up into a ballon. You can see if I fish has dropsy when it's scales on the stomach area rise up.
  17. By the way 4sticks has said moss like, I don't think it is blue green algae. So do you mean thick as in the texture or the compactness of the algae? Is it hair or thread like?
