  1. my two males used to fight. They sorted it out after a day or two. As long as the remain uninjured i would leave them together. I found it to be generally quite harmless. HTH

  4. we will have to follow up the feedback on this one :-? 505 for a half - half frog. bit suspect to me
  5. you can try using flourish excell or diy co2 but from experience i would say you have too many nutrients. so i would try to cut this back. to cut it back you need to look at your fish load(how many and is it over stocked), how much your feeding (is it possibleyour over feeding?) and mantainence (are you gravel vacumming out the stuff) One you sort that then you can have a go at playing with excel/co2 and ferts to get good growth on your plants
  6. lol I've never actuallty kept malawis just read about em so that would explain a lot

  12. thanks Evil the Ph has always been 7.4 i dont monitor it that regularily ussually every two weeks. They've been off colour for a week. All the other fish are fine. No new fish. waters all sweet. Hopefully will come right.
  13. Heya Everyone Lately my male dwarf gouramis have lost their colour and are the same colour as the females. Theyre in a 100L with a few harlequins, a golden algae eater some glass cats and kuhli loaches. I do regular weekly water changes I fed a lot of frozen bloodworms over the last week and one male has got his colour back but the other is rather lathargic and hangs around at the surface or under a plant. He still comes out to feed and is getting a fair share. I thought it might be something to do with ph or something so i got my ph measured and its 7.4 . I read though that they like 6.5 - 7.5. so should his be a problem? I have some peat which i can add to the filter if need be. All help is appreciated Thanks in Advance
  14. The Hillstream loach or borneo sucker - same thing but can live in cold indoor tanks. I dont know if the eat algae but the look like they might cos they have suckie mouths. HTH
  15. Ide say that slender leaved plant going by the list at the bottom is Narrow leaved java fern.
  16. Yes - but if Dixon transfered them from one tank to another and couldnt find one its probably in the gravel.

They like to be in numbers and as a lot are wild caught they need good water conditions. They are good at cleaning algae (green hair) i think they the most
  21. How many tiger barbs do you have? as they can be aggressive towards others if kept in too few numbers. Bristlenoses need wood or pleco chips. As for Gouramis. the smaller varieties are Honey Banded and Dwarfs The larger are peal, three spot and kissing gouramis depending on tank size ide got for the bigger as the could hold more ground against the tiger barbs. Any other views as im not sure my suggestion is entirely correct
  22. clarks clown - i like ocelleris sp? more thought Poached or scrambled eggs?
  23. I dont think it would have been the coral. I think sometimes the crap can contain a bit of bacteria so maybe that was it. :-? Hope it clears up soon
  24. It will clear up in a few days but its good fix the cause -presuming you can find it So... Did you change any filter media lately or use any meds that could have killed the bacteria population. Any fish gone missing and not returned (might be polluting the tank) or been feeding extra food lately. Introduced a few new fish. Those the reasons ive heard. The water change should and it should be gone in a few days unless there is an ongoing problem
