  1. Americans are 50x worse... hahahaha no surprise to me.
  2. Chimera - ? I think you should just tile over it...
  3. Is it acutally wet or just stained? I wouldn't think evap would do it, but its got to be comming from somewhere. Do you have micro bubbles popping causing a light mist? Perhapps leave a towel on the floor and see if it gets wet? Hrmmm wet chipboard floor can't be good mang. Pie
  4. If by we you mean mankind, than yes (goes x2 if your American). Not much we can do about it, sit back and watch the show. Pie
  5. The planet is dieing. What ya gonna do. Pie
  6. Craig - Heaps of info on reefcentral for bringing up shrimp. They have a planktonic stage that lasts over 3 months before you can wean them onto rotifers though, so probably such a hastle it would hardly be worth the energy. Not saleable for approx 18 months. Pie
  7. I am a big fan of redundancy too. I use 2 fans... Pie

    Coral Vitaliser

Ohhh I found this little gem too. Just PROVES (or is it just evidence) that Layton doesn't always mean what he says: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/zeovit ... html#58689 Pie

The old barrage of links trick. Must be true, look at all the links. I wounder if anyone bothered to look at any of them. Hahaha. I can't PROVE that big foot doesn't exist either, but there is strong EVIDENCE suggesting he doesn't. Pie

We must be approaching the 2 year aniversy of the wasp/layton discussion on Zeovit. I use the word discussion with a degree of cringe worthy sarcasim. Zeovit works. Proof is in the pudding. Much like my VCR I don't care how it works. Who knows maybee there are little mice running on treadmils under the bonet, not particulary important. It does what they say it does and thats good enough for me. Getting into an arguement over the simantics of what evidence vs. proof means just cements the fact your grasping at straws for amunition to fuel the debate. Zeovit works, agreed, you don't like how it works, fine your entitled to your opnion, which is all it is, an opnion. This is true, my montis look easily as good as in Wasps pics. I don't use Zeovit. I put it down to my DSB, but you don't care for them much either, time bombs and what not. Tank looks OK. Add Zeovit (as per INSTRUCTION) tank looks great. Stop using zeovit tanks looks the same as it did before you started. Hrmmmmm seems straight forward to me, but then I am no scientiest so my standards for proof are obviously wrong. SCARLET

Layton - I've watched prices drop significantly since Steve/Nick have been importing. Maybee there are more factors in it than just them I don't know but things have never been so good as they are are now since I started buying stuff in 2000. There are threads on this site with comments from people (you) saying that ultimatly it will be bad from the hobby. So far its all good, I am certainly enjoying the great prices and as far as Steve/Nick are concerned an improvement in quality too. Pieman

    SCARLET

I brought mine from Jansens in 2002, when yellow tangs were $200.00ea and no coral was under $100.00. Prices have changed in recent years, particualary with JetSkiSteve importing and helping keep prices in check. As for being riped? Thanks for pointing that out. Why did you ask or did you just want to riducle people who paid more than you? pfft. Pie

    Reefs Reef Tank

Alois - I am impressed that looks outstanding, your tank has gone from strengh to strength over the last 12 months. Stunner. Pie
  17. In my experance corals grow upwards not downwards. If the biggest problem you can think of is pruneing your corals then you have little to worry about. How much pruning do you need to do? The corals work it out for themselfs! 750 is too shallow, 900+. pie
  18. Yes and no. Some of mine are almost touching, some die when close. Often I find is the acropora that wins but the montis typically grow quicker. Pie
  19. JetSkiSteve - Deeper, some of us don't need to have our hands in the tank every second day. I don't think i've had my hands in the tank since November. D E E P E R
  20. Yeah trap flys and toe nails things like that. I hope you NEVER have to change that filter wool. pie

    Tank Upgrade...

Layton - Warren Stillwell on this site built a monster tank. Can't remember the exact size but it was about 3mx1mx1m. Plywood in steel frame. If memory serves me correctly it cost him under 2k (excluding the crane etc to get it to his home). Unfortunatly he lost his nerve and never installed it at home but the tank looked top-notch and would be a lot cheaper than all glass. Although because its saltwater the paint used to seal the wood probably wouldn't be as effective and you may need to use PVC/acrilic to line it. Still PVC is cheap, might add a few hundred depending on how big the tank. You could just seal it up with silicone and it would be spot on. If i ever go larger (not on the horizon) it won't be all glass, most likley purpose built concrete PVC lined monster. Is it going on concrete floors? What about a 50/50 substrate? I've seen a few where people have designed the rockwork ahead of time, made a channel for the visible substrate to exist (never seen DSB, just cosmetic 2-3 inchs) and the rest bare bottomed. I am not sure how well it would work but could be a good compromise to have a sandbed without the benifits/negitives of the DSB or a sand bed covering the whole tank. You would have to go 400s in a big tank like that? I would have thought so. Is it in-wall or free standing? Piezola
