  1. Oh alright. I won't bother with discus then, I'll just get a few more Angels. Only problem is I'm looking for the Zebra variety but no one in Chch has it. Maybe I'll just get different types and see how it goes.
  2. Bump. Thinking of removing the Tiger Barbs and a pair of Kribs if I ever decide to purchase a few Discus. Any suggestions people?
  3. To be honest, I am not really keen on them raising fry at all as I do not have the facilities to take care of them. I only want them in a pair so they don't get too lonely and not too aggressive against each other.
  4. I've recently tore down my tank and started anew, and its coming along nicely. However, the tank is now looking a bit bare as I've replaced the driftwood with something a quarter its size. So how compatible is my tank with Discus? Tank Specs and Inhabitants: Planted 900x450x450 CF1200 Filter Swordtails x10-15 ish 2 Krib pairs (may move one pair out) Neons x6 Angel Fish x1 Betta x1 GBA fry x7 Tiger Barbs x5 Now, I'm after a fish thats reasonably big to be the "monsters" of the tank. The 2 options I have is either get a few more Angel Fish, or maybe Discus if it's suitable. I'm hoping to buy a few of them as fry, and raise them to hopefully find a pair and give the rest away. Thoughts?
  5. http://www.badassoftheweek.com/voytek.html Once, he entered the bath hut and came across a spy who had been planted to gather intelligence on the Allied camp. Voytek growled, slapped the dude upside his stupid head, and the man immediately crapped his pants and surrendered. The Soldier Bear was lauded as a hero for successfully capturing an enemy agent, who in turn was interrogated and gave up vital intelligence on enemy positions.
  6. I would help but I'm a third year Uni student from Canty.
  7. I'll look for some Enheim ones then thanks. Another thing: Impellers are so expensive! Each one I've looked at costs $40. Are there any cheaper ones around?
  8. Very noisy? I wont touch it then. As my CF1200 is pretty much messed up at the moment (impellor problems, really really noisy) I don't need anything else increasing the noise. Any suggestions?
  9. That can supply enough air for 2-3 small tanks, all less than 1.5 foot long. I have my eye on this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =168925310 Suggestions?
  10. Ok, beheading it is then. Will go this Friday, assuming good weather.
  11. Oooo, I have eaten that sometimes tasted awesome heh. Also ... uhh ... how does one kill a fish? I read online about some method that involves putting something sharp into somewhere above the fish's head. Or should I just chop the head off?
  12. Ohh, cool. OK then we'll try some fishing during the weekend hopefully. Will let you know how we get on.
  13. Are barracuda's edible? And what's kawhai? Are they edible as well?
  14. Good stuff. will probably try Taylor's Mistake during the weekend if the weather is good. Also what are the laws there for open fires? We probably are hoping to cook (if we are lucky) some fish there. Of course we'll keep dispose of the rubbish properly.
  15. Well, we don't mind anything really, as long as its edible. Taylor's Mistake sounds awesome. Where are the cliffs at? Do we need a license?
  16. Me and a few friends are keen on going fishing somewhere around. Now how does one go about this? I was told the Waimac (however you spell it) is a good spot, but do we have to apply for licenses? Or are there better spots to go to?
  17. Some are really really expensive. If not I'll just go ahead and use yeast and sugar. :-?
  18. Shhhhhhhh! Maybe all of us in Chch could pool together and monopolize the market on Kribs. Sell them all at 1 dollar reserve and 3 bucks buy now.
  19. Actually, there seemed to be quite a few people keen on them. I had over 10 watchers and maybe 100 views, so thats not too bad. Try putting them on TM. You have nothing to lose and so much (well relatively) to gain.
  20. Well it's not that I have heaps of them. I just need to clear some room temporarily so that the newer batches of Kribs will have no elder siblings eating them. Anyways a guy must have also thought that it was a fair enough price, so alls well. Thanks all.
  21. Thanks for that. I feel a lot better now. I personally thought it was a fair price, considering I paid around $4 or $5 for one when I started. But everyone seemed to be wanting it to be cheaper, but meh. Now if I had known Kribs could be sold for $3 each, I would have saved the last 4 batches from the other fish in the tank.
  22. Just wondering. Seems to me alot of people are wanting me to sell them cheaper on TM. Edit - Sorry if its in the wrong forum. I didn't know where to put it.
  23. Very nice piece of driftwood. I assume that the parts that were cut at the bottom will be buried under the sand?
  24. Ohh, sweet as. As of tonight, I'm gonna chuck in my heater into the tank and warm up the water a bit more. I'll do a water change and put some old tank water into it and chuck a couple of fish in there. If they survive for a couple of days I'll slowly reintroduce the rest. Edit - Nearly forgot. As I now have sand in the tank, I am after some fish that goes pretty much stays and wanders around in it. So far I'm going to get some BNs and Cories (not sure about Loaches, those are expensive and a bit harder to maintain). Are there any other fish that will suit the tank? Keep in mind that I will have 2 pairs of Kribs in there and about 5 or so caves so theres not much room for cave dwellers.
