  1. oh forgot to say that. im giving it to a mate. I dont want it anymore, and he did, so its his  Hes collecting it tomoro so i pulled it out tonight so i can soak it in Pottasium permanganate for a little while to make sure i dont give him algae and because i wont have time to do all that stuff in the morning
  2. Thanks. my tank is 50cms high, most leaves were fully out of the water! The pic in my avatar is of one of the many flowers this plant created
  3. Guitar is there for size comparison... that plant is over 60cms high! I just took it out of my tank, its a marbled sword Sorry for the sideways pic!
  4. Cardinals do die easily. Dont feel bad because one out of ten died. Cardinals dont like change, and are hard to keep alive at some points
  5. 4 out of 6 of mine have got at least one bent fin..... i will definately not be letting them breed
  6. yer i had a look at that just the other day. awesome site! i love the altum angel biotope, and the cardinal tetra biotope.
  7. If you dont need somehting stuck fully tight or anything then you can put wet silicone straight into your tank. I have done it before and it was fine. I did it with selleys glass silicon.
  8. oh very sorry caserole. My mistake. I use ferts that i bought from the LFS (sandy mixture, not sure whats in it) and sand on top in my planted tank. Next planted tank i setup will be daltons aquatic mix + sand as daltons is cheapest
  9. I just read through my heating part, and your one, and to me, yours is even more confusing..... I will add it a little bit though
  10. That statement is very un-true. You dont nee dundergravel heating to have a very successful planted tank. just look at some of the tanks out there, and see if they have it. Antwans tank springs to mind; it was an amazing tank, no UG heating....
  11. Yer, some of mine have them aswell, top and bottom fins. You can see in the photo sorta i think....
  12. thanks for the input guys. I have changed it around a little bit more. Anyone else have anything to say?
  13. just found this one, which i took a couple months ago now i think. they are a fair bit bigger than this now
  14. I have 5 true altums in my planted tank. I bought them from amazonian in nelson. As far as im aware, phills were altum scalare crosses, whereas amazonians are true altums.... I dont realy have any pics of mine except for when i first got them and they were the size of 10 cent pieces. I will try get 1 or 2 sometime and post them for you....
  15. Someone here a little while ago (read months) said that they had baby bristlenose jump out of a breeding trap. I personally havent experienced BN jumping, and i always keep my babys in a breeding trap or net breeder.... Spidersweb has pretty much covered everything you need to know. I always feed my babys novo-bits aswell but they dont need them... Courgette or cucumber, plus pleco tablets will do them fine...
  16. imagine accidently dropping it when being installed

  18. They may be rotting away where they have been cut/broken/snipped off and havent reacted well, so they may have to die off a little bit, then gain some roots, so you could try using some plant weights to hold them on the substrate whilst they take hold..... *breath*
  19. you get over them eventually, after about 3 batches in a row and 100+ babys to get rid of it aint that fun :-? 8) Oh, and well done
