  1. ok i have just picked up the glass for the top braces. 150 x 450 x 6 on each end and 200 x 450 x 6 in the middle. cost. $5 including cutting silicone cost. $11.95 going pretty good ATM. thanks
  2. never heard of such thing feelers ok. back to what i was saying before (it was too confusing)i will put it in a simple way. my tank is 6mm glass, 1200l x 450w x 400h. approx 215 litres End braces(going front to back on each end) 6mm glass, 70mm wide Middle brace(going front to back in middle of tank) 6mm glass, 100mm wide. this is the bracing i am planning to put on this tank. the thing i want to know is...will these sized braces hold the tank???? this is glass that i already have so would be cheapest to use it!!! i will need to get new glass cut for the top so i want least cost possible involved!!
  3. ok it has sum real wierd bracing i would like to sort out. it has 2 long strips going from end to end accross the front and back. it thn has 2 pieces, one on each end, going from the underneath of the front one to the underneath of the back one, glued up underneath. it thn has another front to back one on the side. should be a middle brace but its to the side i have nowhere to put cables in and out without takin a piece of the lid out and nowhere to put my temporary HOB filter untill i get a canister!!! i am wanting to cut the back brace off, and glue the side braces to the back of the tank and thn then take out the off centered middle brace and put one IN THE MIDDLE!! it is 6-7mm glass and it doesnt have any bottom bracing. after the alterations it would end up having. a front brace going from end to end across the front of the tank. 2 side braces going from front to back of tank. one middle brace going from front to back of tank. would this hold the water?? it is 1200l x 450w x 400h i could use the back brace that i take off and stick it to the bottom of the tank ant the back for extra strength!!???!!???!!??? thanks **EVIL** :bounce:
  4. animal antics will do it. they do mine for free whenever i want. im sure they will do yours too!!!!

  6. potassium permangonate.....sounds like the best idea for me. i might ask my biology teacher at skool if i can have sum so how long do i soak it in the PP solution?? 30 mins?? also, with a powerhead pumping water out for water changes, how would i siphon off any crap from the bottom??? it is a bare bottom tank thanks **EVIL** :bounce:
  7. ok. a power head with hose attached seems like a good way for the water changes but the plants... gold listerine??? what is it?? listerine as in was my mouth listerine or not lol. any more suggestions??? thanks
  8. ok. so i have made this one topic but its two different things first question: what is a good way to get rid of nastys coming into my tanks on plants...snails and snails eggs and algae mainly....?? Second question: if i have a 100L tank sitting on the floor... how would i siphon/water change it??? is it better to have it sitting up off the floor a little bit?? thanks **EVIL** :bounce:
  9. OOO man that pic is small not to worry hopefully you can understand what i mean by what is written thanks
  10. ok so i have been slack and not got around to wiring them but i have started ANYWAY... i am wondering, which way do i wire in the resistors?? they have three(i think) coloured stripes on one end, i was wondering if the striped end goes closest to the LED or on the other side away from the LED. i have it set up so i have the postive wire going to the striped end of the resitor, through to the positive side of the LED then through to the negative wire. is this correct. in the attached pic you can see what i have done. this is a sample pic of what i have at the moment
  11. get rid of the females you have now and buy a different two. hope your male survives!!!!!!
  12. as i said, an external filter would be best but i dont have the $$. so, i have a jebo 503 HOB filter(supposedly for tanks up to 150Litres) running on the tank the 4 foot will be replacing so i can use that for surface agitation but i need another internal for it. i was thinking i could buy one of these what are your thoughts thanks **EVIL** :bounce:
  13. o cool dimebag. yea i bought a pair of them not long ago so i already have sum!!! always room for more lol
  14. yeeehaaaa i just bought a tank on trademe for $80!!! 1200 x 450 x 395. its going to be my amazon community sorta tank. with rams, cockatoos, harlequins, maybe discus....... corys etc, etc, etc i cant wait!!! it doesnt come with anything exept lids. so im gunna need to buy a filter, heater, whatsit, thingymajig and a gazoo... an external filter would be the ideal, with a couple 100 watt heaters and some BIG lights. im so exited!!!! **EVIL** :bounce:
  15. yea that sucks man. better luck for the next spawn. i have a breeding pair of BN's that i need to get up and breeding again. cant wait. i have a breeding trap that i can stick bubbas in too good luck **EVIL** :bounce:
  16. hello again i have just got some whiteworms (thanks to Wok). i have them in an ice-cream container with some small holes in the bottom for a bit of drainage and bigger holes in the top for aeration. they are in a mixture of potting mix("just" potting mix from the Warehouse)and soil from the garden. i am going to feed them bread crumbs. i am going to be getting another starter culture in another week from "another" person and i was thinking that i could keep them in a different way to find out whats 'best'. i was wondering if people could tell me their ways of keeping whiteworms(what substrate, food, container, conditions etc.) i am just wanting lots of different ways of doing it so i know what has worked and what hasnt so i can get a good culture up and running. hopefully in about a month i will have thriving cultures of WW's to feed my fish and maybe even enough to start others off!!!! thanks **EVIL** :bounce:
  17. lol. good point with that hummingbird. i have one myself and i know tsarmina has 2 (i think) that we love. people say that they dont eat algae, they attack other fish etc etc. no, my one doesnt eat algae but he also doesnt eat my other fish. i like him because he has got a very funny attitude, whipping round the tank etc. they are good for tsarmina because she had them in her baby guppy tank and they ate all the left over food, not necisarily (sp?) the algae but the old food which makes the water go off. i agree with you tsar, why not have a go at breeding them, just another challenge in the thrill of keeping fish. ( all of this is my opinion, anybody else may think otherwise and that is fine. this is my personal view) Thanks **EVIL** :bounce:
