    BN caves

Yeah, it's good for the view but the fish is a bit anxious about it  Everytime someone walked in front of the tank he freaked. My mate has draped a towel over the front of the tank so he can't see people moving about and it's settled him down 8)

Hi all. Check out this choice of cave A mate of mine has had some GBA spawning action and this is where the male decided was a good place to bring up his brood.....

    Dwarf Cichlids

Some fish fell safer having both ends of the cave open....it gives them more opportunity of escape. My Cockatoos used a cave like Amazonians flower pot but my Kribs preferred a pot that had the back cut out.

  8. Hi Mad Whip. I don't have the new tank yet. The guy I'm buying it off is getting a huge new tank built so I have to wait for that to happen. It'll be soon though (he says hopefully)

    hi all..

    Welcome to the forums :bounce:
  10. Hi. I have a book here, 'Aquarium Care of Bettas' by David E Boruchowitz which states..."Asian Betta breeders first produced crown tails at the end of the twentieth century"...end quote..... so they're relatively new to the hobby.
  11. Right back at ya :bounce: :bounce: 8)
  12. I know when they are holding because I can see that she has a swollen chin. This is called the buccal cavity. Also, she won't be eating. I took this pic of a Fryeri 10 minutes ago. You can actually see the fry 8)
  13. Thanks Ryan but she did all the work. I have a Cobalt holding too so I'm going to give her a go in a day or two.
  14. I stripped her this time because she was looking skinnier than she usually gets, whether that was my imagination or not, I feel happier to have her eating 8) Too true, but it's a hard choice....would I rather be kicked off through disgust or derision
  15. That sounds like something Mugabe might say.....
  16. LMAO....I knew there'd be an exoctic dancing reference.....and I'd be more than just booed off....I'd be bottled off
  17. Congratulations....now you can have that fishroom you've always wanted :bounce: :bounce:
  18. Cheers. I love having fry to grow on. I usually give the females a tank of their own so they can release when they're ready but I wanted to have a go a stripping....
  19. It didn't work for you....I don't know why but you'll get the hang of it
  20. Hi all. I decided to strip the fry from a Peacock today, it was my first attempt so I was a little nervous, unnecessarily as it happens  .....I caught her, put her in a container, turned away for a couple of seconds to get a tool and by the time I turned back she'd already released them for me 8) Easy peezy :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

    CHCH-water

Hi emu_15, Whenever I've measured it's 7.2/7.3ish in Phillipstown. I rang the council years ago and was told that we don't treat our water with chlorine. The same question re:pH, was asked here http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/chch-w ... 33914.html HTH
  24. Throw in a pot of tea and I'll think about it. I promise to give you an answer before 31 December
