    who needs a couch?

I agree with you darkfur, furniture just gets in the way and takes up too much room  I've moved most of mine out to make room for more tanks and have replaced it with office chairs. That way people get to wheel themselves from tank to tank and can 'park' at the one that they find the most interesting 8)

    Hello

Hi Moya. Welcome to the forums :bounce:
  5. Yep, it is I think it helps keep a stable pH too, 7.8 the last time I tested it.
  6. Hi Scott & welcome to the forums :bounce:
  7. Yeah, I've noticed a couple of injuries over the years but it's rare. I've dealt with two eye injuries which healed up fine with a bit of TLC, but it's mostly just a scale or two off. It can happen when they get a spook and bolt for cover.
  8. Cheers ppl 8) The tank has been re arranged since that pic was taken. It has less rock because I've used some in other tanks.

    Hi

Hi andyinthebox. Welcome to the forum :bounce:
  10. It's dead coral. My substrate is a 'Fruit salad' gravel mix with coral sand.
  11. I have coral rock in all my African tanks. I seldom test the water in my mature tanks but I tested the water in my main display for this reply. pH is 7.8 and assuming I've done the test right GH 160 and KH 80. I last did a water change two days ago. It'll be interesting to test it again before the next water change.

    ROCK CLEANING

Hi Deno, I've used bleach to clean my rocks. I use about a cup per bucket of water and leave them there until clean....I can't remember how long it took but I know it wasn't long. Then I stack them in the shower or under a sprinkler and leave it running until I can't smell bleach. I then dry them in the sun for as long as I can and give them a good sniff to make sure there's no bleach smell. That took a bit long and always made me nervous, although it never caused any problems, so I now have two sets of rock so that I can put the rocks from the tank straight outside to sit in the sun and rotate sun bleached ones back in.
  13. PM'd. Mine are gorgeous. The person I got them from seems to know their stuff and won't have crossed
  14. They come up for sale from time to time. I chased up an old Private Trade and Exchange thread to find mine. I hope to be breeding mine in the next couple of months.
  15. I have Red Shoulders with Mbuna with no problems.
  16. The biological filter may still be immature and the new fish will have increased the load on it. The bacteria population will take time to increase to accept that extra load. The water changes are the right thing to do....every second or third day if you can, more if necessary. I'd also stop dosing the tank with the ferts and Flourish for a while. Perhaps stop with the Meth Blue too. I think it treats external problems and won't help with anything internal. Sometimes a LFS will test a sample of your water for you. It would help alot to know if the tank is fully cycled or not. A test kit is a handy thing to have because you can tell when an immature tank needs a WC and where it is in the cycle.
  17. Hi Fishkeepa. Sorry to answer your questions with more but........ How long has the tank been set up for? What is your water change regime? Can you test for ammonia and nitrite?

    Hi All

I use this...... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... rtoys.mspx to shrink my pics before uploading them to http://photobucket.com/ or you can set the size in photobucket before starting the upload. You can also edit the pic after the upload. The site admin state ... 'Keep your pics a maximum of 640 x 480 pixels (or preferably 480 x 360) and LESS THAN 100kbs.' from here viewtopic.php?t=2406
  19. Good work Bailey :bounce: :bounce: Be careful with that huge egg....you might fall in. Is there any chance of seeing the winning pic??
