Hi all, just wondering if aluminium is ok to use in a tank as a piece of gauze around the overflow box? Im a little hesitant about using it because aluminium will oxidise with salts (and water) won't it??? Interested to hear your thought. Thanks

Sure would frenchy, black calvus would do just fine! Reef tank sounds great shell. Yes fronts are doing awsome, growing really well. Quite the characters! they will be going into 6 footer once its filled and cycled. Hey fishtv, I'd only be guessing who done it??? I'd say you'd be right with the female as the offender if their looking like they are gonna breed :roll: I would'nt worry, fins normally heal very well. A water change never hurts with bit of stress coat or something similar

Id say it still comes down to personal preference faish.

Im sure it was just a bad batch lady lene, They are supposed to be a very good brand.

I've had two jagars and i'd have to say I'll never get another one. After going fine for a few months(on seperate occasions) they just stayed on and kept heating. The first time I lost five favorites in the tank and the second time I noticed it before any more damage occured! the LFS said jagar had a bad batch and alot had been recalled???? Im sure its been sorted as they are a reputable brand but it just put me off them. since then I've just stuck to the aqua ones, which im happy as with! 8)

third wheel syndrome thats what its called eh, I too have been thinking I should lighten up on one Oscar? the one that gets bullied is the nicest fish, a red, the two tigers have buddied up and knock the crap out of him. I now have partitioned him off and he is gaining weight and giving the other two all sorts of evil messages through the glass partition, how would it go if I got rid of the smaller tiger who is an ugly bugger with a deformed jaw, would the remaining tiger buddy up with the red do you think.

I do filter clean one filter every water change beachy, I have three filter systems running and yeh Oscars are real messy fish

I dilute because that is what the instructions say to do, if I used straight tank water then the test would come out maximum nitrate leval on the first scale, has no one used the Sera NO3 test kit before or am I the only one

New Plymouth District Council water supply Zero nitrate tested

straight tank water gives maximum nitrate level on the chart so the directions say I have to dilute to get proper reading which I have done just completed 50% water change on 15/4 fish are all very healthy just the test kit I am stumped on. Shop where I bought it has not got a clue cheers
