    DISCUS KEEPERS!

Hi guys, just interested in hearing peoples thoughts and techniques on how you keeep your discus? Water changes/temp, tank set up ie bare bottom or sand, what water conditioners you use, medications to have on hand and of course food you feed. Thanks in advance Glen

Something may come up sooner for you but if it does'nt you can have em for $25 each? just let me know if your interested.

    Leleupi

Hi, I have four that I might get rid of about 4cm. I need the room to grow on some fronts as I have another girly holding . if not I have a friend here that has heaps of really young lelu's that he is selling but again im in New Plymouth. The'd be pretty cheap though I think. He goes to auckland a bit I will ask him when the next time he is coming up if you like. Pm me if your interested.
  11. Thanks for the help guys  will update pics as they grow and get it right next time. Were on about the 12th day now. Still only small mouthfuls of about 6- 10 eggs. this time there were 7.
  12. Hi all just thought i'd give posting a few pics a go as I have another batch of fry. Hope they turn out!
  13. Hey Sharkie and lynnie, the batch I have at the moment is spoken for but they have been holding about once a month, by the sounds of it i'd say the others (african, nimbochromis illusionz etc) wont be too far away either so you may want to get some a little closer to your area. If not just let me know im sure we could sort something out. (definately selling them for a reasonable price too david)
  14. Hi guys, looking good. I have a batch tumbling at the moment. Should be in the growout tank again soon.
  15. Hi everyone, been awhile since i've been here so I thought I'd look for something to reply to, good to see everyones been busy on the fish front. I have lelupi breeding and have a batch of frontosa tumbling which should be in the grow out tank in about two weeks.
  16. 800L is a bit excesive, but if you can afford to go that large go for it, as sorcha said the bigger the better for the fish. My dad has three oscars, a dempsey a red devil and a quetzal and they are all healthy and get on fine. I think his tank is 600L (6x2x2) he did get em young, they went through a stage where they fought a bit as they were maturing and that was it. Oscars and jacks are fine from my experience.

    Import list.

Like I said just just thinking out loud. did'nt think it would'nt be a simple task.

    Import list.

Thanks for that, im not really after anything in particular. I guess it would be nice to add some fresh blood to species that are already here. ie frontosa as an example where they have pretty much all come from the same colony in nz, and be able to improve on what we already have would be a bonus. Just thinking out loud really. Thanks

    Import list.

What has to be done to get a new species on the import list? I know MAF are fairly tough here , how often does the list change?

    bamboo??

Im not speaking from my own experience here but I was talking to a guy who breeds BN catfish. he recons they love the stuff. He'd put a piece in his tanks and they'd hollow out the inside in a few days? I think that was going in green?
  22. 10 dems and 10 electric yellows, as ryan said they only really give each other a hard time. I've had them since very small and had no casualties with them or the yellows. I remember reading about a guy having a 1/2 inch male chase a medium sized venustus for over 6 feet just because it showed abit of interest in the dems cave! thought that was pretty funny.
  23. I like it, well done. plants look fine, as said they add colour. My dems mowed out a few plants but if they do just take the plants out, easy as that. Nice tank.
  24. 10 Demasoni, not sure how many electric yellows and fry? and 13 frontosa. Thinking about getting rid of the dems and yellows though, not sure yet? Frenchy im shocked! all american!!!
