    polystyrene

im looking and geting some more grow out tanks but was thinking is it possable to use polystyrene boxes for tanks? there way cheeper and would keep the heat in really well so wuld reduce the heating cost? there just grow out tanks so wouldnt be too worried about not seeing into them...

  17. heres sum updated photos... heres the tube at the back to hold the two pumps and heater this it where it is in the tank tank without rock tank with rock and light installed
  18. also does anyone in rotorua (or not too far away) have any soft coral frags they wanna sell (or just get rid of )?
  19. if i put coral rock in the tank do i need 2 wait for it to cycle before i can put livestock in? my sand has cured and stuff but i was thinking in a smal tank would the rock curing in the tank upset the levels?
  20. how long would a leather coral be alright in a bag for?
  21. cool thanks, why would you not recomend silicon?
  22. well its all coming together now, the pumps and heater are inside a rectangle tube that runs up one side of the tank (was too big to put in the center) now what i want to do is cover the perspex tube with live rock but need to stick the rock together somehow... would silicon stick two wet rocks together??. im not going to glue it to perspex because will make it easyer to remove if i ever need to, so im going to stack the rocks and glue them together infront of the tube. (would be good to if it could cure underwater)
  23. does anyone have a pair of breading bettas that i could buy?
  24. my dad had local (coldwater tanks) in the mid 80's when i was just a young'in and we had all sorts of things frm octopus to snapper and crays had no problems with tanks eithr everything went well with them and the fish lived very long healthy lives, we live in rotorua so couldnt do too many water changes and we had tanks over 6ft long, he helpd get the guys from wonderworld into saltwater years ago.
  25. wel iv finished the wood base just got to oil it now and have cut out the old filter which was a overflow thing on the top. but now iv got a lil problem, i want to get my 2 little powerheads and 55w heater into the something in the center of the tank that i can cover in LR and i want to be able to remove the powerheads and heater 2 service, i was thinking about the pvc pipe in the pic (having the bottom under the undergravel filter and the top caped off) but hav discovered its a tad too small and dont know how the pump outlets will line up with holes/outlets in the pipe, does anyone have any ideas?
