  1. What are you using for a bottle? What did you pay for all of your components?
  2. Cool. Do you have a cooler? If so what / how? What water conditions do you have, PH, temp? Any plants? Substrate?
  3. PETEYPLECO

    stones

so long as you wash them first, I cant see to much of a problem

    Co2

I got bottles, regs and other bits coming soon to assemble into a complete Co2 system - will keep you all posted and let you know how much ASAP.
  5. So long as you give them a snorkle ! ( HAHA LOL ) NO ? ? Sorry
  6. Its probably just leaching some colour, it will cear up after a while and after a few water changes.
  7. I had a large silver shark do this but it ended up going to a "toilet surf"
  8. I really want a native tank with 'bullies and banded kokapu !
  9. Go for it man ! Glue, screw, dowel and paint till your hearts content my friend.
  10. AAAWWWW your making me nervous ! ! I can just see a wet floor, broken glass and little fishes flaping around. Sorry MDF may last but I prefer "a brick SH__THOUSE" to place my tank on. I have my 36Gal tank on a solid timber unit and this I reinforced with bracing uprights and used additional screws to ensure nothing comes apart. You must also make sure the area the tank is placed on remains level even with a sheet of foam underneath - MDF has a well know problem of bowing / warping.
  11. Yeah I am expecting the minimum size to be 20 oz but more likely to be 2 kg bottles.
  12. I have seen up here in Auckland a converted 2KG Co2 fire extinguisher. That cost $100 to fit a reg and needle valve to this. It can be re filled at Firecorp for about $30 providing it is not out of date, it must also have its manufacturers LAB number stamped on the cylinder as NZ has very strick issues on imported bottles. All bottles must be inspected evey 6 years.
  13. What sizes of Co2 cylinders are people running currently? I am aware of sodastream sized to 2 kg converted fire extinguisher sized bottles? What is considered to be to small to be a waste of time or to big to be concealed?
  14. Cool, how many fry is mum likely to have had ? ? Also how often will mum give birth ? What do you do to separate the fry as I dont have a spare tank . . YET.
  15. Yup im a proud dad of little molly babies. Sorry its my first time to have fish breed. Got home from work to find only a couple (rest may have been eaten) of youngsters hiding in my plants leaves. I disconnected my external filter and had a good look around inside but there were no fry in there. I have no fry food but I crushed up some flake food and one had a go at it, dont know if they can eat this but its all I have. Will also have to invest in a seperator thing for the bubbies.
  16. A full test and results proven before I even think about offering this out. I will post pics during asembly and testing showing before and after shots of plant improvments.
  17. This morning this fish is a lot thinner around the tummy and sitting in a particular corner of the tank looking a bit protective toward the other fish. I cant see any little babies though, how small are they?
  18. Yeah mine is the same as Mystics !
  19. HEY just took a look at my fish while feeding them and one of my yellow mollies looks like it has swallowed a golf ball and is about to pop? Is it prego???? I'll have to go get one of those separator thingy majingies ? ? Watch this space . . . . . . . . . . . .
  20. Sorry my mistake of course you are correct the boys are better looking.
  21. Clockwise should lower the temp, try a slight adjustment and keep an eye on your thermometer?
  22. Try to avoid those MDF or Particle Board units as the weight of the tank may flatten it. Try some secondhand stores for one of those older solid timber desks or drawer units, depending on the size of your tank it should live.
  23. Hey I know there are places to collect natural driftwood but it would have to be soaked prior to use. I did see today some nice pieces at Hollywoods in Mt Roskill and also at Pupuke, check your local LFS?
