Temp 28, PH 6.5 and it seems happy ?

So help me out here, if I am right the male was the smaller of the two as the supposed female was nearly twice the size of the other fish? So I can use what kind of male for breeding?

I bought a breeding pair of these from my LFS and the male has just died, I am wondering if anybody knows where I can find another male and maybe another pair as these are such nice fish? I was alo told these are easy to breed but I had this pair for over a year and no babies unlike my yellow mollies that have just given birth for the second time.

Does anybody have one in a situation that is, lets say not ideal water conditions e.g lower PH of around 7.0?

I added crushed oyster shell in a media bag in my external filter to increase PH, this took about 1 week to go from 6.4 to 7.0 but after that it stayed very stable at 7.0. You may need to add more over time as it wears down.

LEOPARD SYNO or SYNODONTIS MULTIPUNCTATUS. Who has one of these? Can you please discuss the water conditions you have this in e.g temp', PH. Does your fish come out during daylight? What are its tankmates? I have just bought one of these and I think it may just be settling in as I have not seen it for a whole day?

I have a 6" Geo" Surinamensis who does the same to all my other fish, sometimes more than others, I to do not wish to get rid of this problem. My 8" clown loach isnt to bothered by the Geo's bumping. Yes it bothers me to but no harm seems to come of it all the Geos is just a bossy bugger.

The Koura at Jansens were $24 and quaite large I thought !

Check out this site http://www.northshorecity.govt.nz/ Click on "Our Environment" on the left then click on "Streams" then click on say "Eskdale Stream" and you can study in depth reports on water conditions and species found in this particular area. Dont come around and steal my fish though !

So can I just toodle down to the stream at the back of my place, net a few natives and some water from this source? Is this legal !

Yeah me too, I know the collection of some (if not most) native fish is against the law but some more clarification of this would be good. I live on the north shore and just out the back of my place is a stream full of fish that I would love to collect a few for my tank. I also see some native Koura ( fresh water cray's ) on sale at Jansens Mt. Eden !

#1 is a bristle brush on the end of a long flexible wire handle for cleaning up the tubes on my external filter as they get gunked up now and then. #2 are the algae scrubber pads I use to clean the inside of my tanks, removes all algae and spots etc, ... Sales Plug Removed... Mod Bill.... (they are great for the kitchen and the shower / bathroom too) If you want to sell something... Please use the correct forum. Mod Bill.

So I can go to Jansens and buy a swag of those snails and biff them in and my loaches will know what to do?

I guess I would under feed if anything at the moment, all food is gone in around 3 to 5 minutes. What I realy want is to have these 3 loaches grow but at the same time to be healthy and not to polute their environment, I would realize if I was overfeeding.

Yeah I thought of buying snails, does it matter what kind? I also saw some native Koura at Jansens Mt Eden and thought my big loach would chow on that ! !

Does any of this uneaten food pose a risk of making the water go off? I do 30% water change and gravel vac weekly.

How could I fatten up / increase growth of my clown loaches without overfeeding or poisoning the water? Is there a prefered food of theirs that they could eat on a more regular basis to assist in growth. I have 3 large 4" smallest and 7" largest, they normally eat Nutrafin Sinking Food Tabs and a bit of algae flakes and other flake food. I thought of frozen food but I dont know what type, also thought of buying snails as I know they love these. Any sugestions?

Yeah for a while here in Auckland there were hundreds of them in LFS but for some reason there are not so many now, I was out just this week and went to 3 Jansens, 2 hollywoods and pupuke and I cant remember seeing any? I'm glad I have me biggun, he / she (the one with the real long thins) is quite big now. BEAUTIFUL ! -
Dont know about how high it would go but I used a small amount of crushed oyster shell in a media bag in my external filter to keep a constant 7.2 ?
