    Newbie Questions

Ive got many tanks and every one of them is unplanted. Just water, air and food seems to keep them happy. Having said that Ive seen some killi's in awesome planted tanks and their colours really show up nicely in that environment. Aquanut

    Newbie Questions

Hi Aqua. Nice to have another person keen on keeping killies. If you need any killi info and even fish then Alan Wakelin is your man. There are members of the NZKA in Auckland who would also be able to help. I am the new editor of the NZKA newsletter. When you get some killies, and assuming you join the NZKA, send me a photo and a run down on why you like killies and how you have set up your tank etc etc. Cheers Aquanut
  9. Nice Lucky my partner isnt jealous!!! Aquanut
  10. Hi. I have been studying the eating habits of the fish/s and its really interesting because both heads eat. However its a push me, pull me affair when targeting bbs. One head tries to flick sideways but to no avail!!! Hence they can only eat when bbs unwitinly swims right past a nose. The killi is a very slow grower but if I ever get it to a breeding size before it dies Im definately going to try and breed it in a small tank of females. I will take another photo in the next couple of days and see if macro will pick anything new up. Thanks for the interest. I will keep you posted. Cheers Aquanut
  11. Hi. The double header is still alive so thats six months he/she/it has been in this world. BBS is eaten daily. Im looking forward to when it colours up as this Killi is very colourful. Cheers Aquanut
  12. Hi, Sorry about the delay on the pics but I was trying to figure out how to add my whole album from photo bucket!! Still cant but you can see URL's to 5 photos now. Yes the room will hold 100 tanks and each tank will be 300x200x300. Its made in such a way that it can be unbolted and each side/floor/roof is independant of each other. That way, when I move, its easy to load onto a trailer. Anyone got some ideas on what pump I should buy?. Im going to run a looped air line using irrigation tubing and a micro line into each tank. There will be no filtration as I will be drawing water from a 200ltr tank in the room via a submersable pump. I would love any feedback or ideas any of you have. Cheers AQUANUT
  13. Hey Killi Keepers, Ive been working everyday on my new Killi room and its about 1-2 weeks away from completition. When its completed Id like to invite all NZKA members, who can make it, along for a BBQ and the smashing of a bottle of cheap wine. Maybe it would possibly be a great time to start a BOP killi group? What do you reckon? Check out my photos.... http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j154/ ... CF0005.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j154/ ... 63e125.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j154/ ... 14. Hi, Well Im glad Im building my new fish room :-) I couldnt help it Alan W. I had to go bigger so the new fishroom will be 3m X 2.4m :-) Maybe it could be used as a Q/station? Having said that I think there are specific rules surrounding Q/stations arent there? I know its only 1 very partly finished wall but check this out. Heading off to feed killies now...... AQUANUT
  15. Gidday Bro, I guess it takes my bro to get my a into G and send out new photos. I will take some this weekend and post them on my photobucket. The killi is twice the size now and still alive and kicking. Remember it was born early Jan and its now mid May!!!! Cheers
  16. Hi People, Im in the process of planning my new fish room which will be a Tin Shed housed in a garage. Have any of you done this before and what did you do? Any ideas would be appreciated as Im sure some of you will have some simple ideas to do with insulation and heating. Basically I am going to insulate inside and out with thick polystyrene and just use a fan heater with thermostat set at 21 deg. Your thoughts please Cheers AQUANUT A
  17. Hi, I have just relocated to Tauranga and the Double Header travelled well along with all my other Killi's. He is doing fine and is alot bigger now. I will take some photos this week and update the photo. AquaNut
  18. Hi, My goal is to keep it alive and present it at the next show or even next years NZKA AGM. It would be amazing if I could breed from it and create a new species. lol Aquanut
