  1. waw. i had bba a few years ago. it, erm, mutilated my tank! i moved fish, removed all water left the tank out for a year (outside that is,) theres not even a trace of it now =D im not sure if anyones willing to leave their tank bare for a year though. =\ Wok, your welcome to sum of my riccia. It carpeted one of my tanks! :lol:
  2. martind, justdoto any plant store (Palmers) and look at the soils/ soil additives theyv got there. I got sum big bags of river sand for 10$ under that you can stick sum clay from the back yard. good luck.

  4. Hi all. The people plastering my garage let some of their plaster fall in the tank. I had a huge plastic sheet covering it, i have no idea how it got in. I cleaned most of it out but i was wondering what the chemicals in it would do to my tank. The chemicals are. Calcium Sulphate Hemihydrate 65-95% Mica 2-6% Modified Cellulose 0-!% Keratin 0-2% Crystine Silico 0-2.5% Any help would be much apreciated :bounce:
  5. lol i picked some out of a stream 2 days ago and its already got 2 cm sprouts of new growth. btw: the best live food, for large cichlids, are dragonfly larvae things. anyone know what im talkin bout? they look realy nasty.
  6. Well described Luke erm Mystic, how do you avoid the bad bacteria that forms in sand... how wellare your tanks with sand planted? are they planted? and how many cms of sand are at the bottom. :bounce: so many questions
  7. hey all. Was thinking of using river sand (with a clay base) as a substrate in my new tank, and was warned about an anairobic (no idea how to spell it) bacterial build up in the sand.... So ill ask here first . How can i avoid this?? Thanks in advance :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

  11. hmmm. ohh my, toughchicken!, i live in greenhithe! whats wrong with my water? i put a little but of aqua-plus in my water, and after a big water change i sometimes add a bit of tonic salt. I dont let the water sit for more than an hour though :oops: .Im not to co-ordinated, lol i just have sudden flares every few days and i feel like doing a water change 8) ...

  14. hey candy. trust me you should go to hollywood, they got a good range. erm, you shud try some 'hydrophila polysperma' for starters, it grows fast no matter what, and looks nice or some vallis =p their only $1.70 for a small bunch!. Java fern is ether $6 or $12 for a nice pot with a few rohzimes (wheres a dictionary) in it, easy spliting them up. i sliped mine into little craks in my DW. lol howd i remember those prices?wow i have a good memory!... or maybe im just really addicted... :oops: :lol: btw: your perants are so cool! mine keep on telling me to get rid of my tanks!

  16. ive had fresh water crays.. i got them from a lake up north :oops: :oops: lol they were fun to have.. i gave them to my LPS and they put them in their display tank that had a few oscars and arowanas in it :evil: lets just say they didnt need to feed the fish for a while... they eat dead leaves and i think i saw one eating some blood worms... that java moss looks awsome!!, im trying it at the mo, but the DW im using was eroded so that now it looks like a pipe (awsome for breeding!) anyway its half horizontally buried... i think it myt take a while longer, but i hope it turns out looking somewhat like yours plant man!!!
  17. i heard somewere that giant hygrophila (Nomaphila Stricta) and a vallis ermm vallis asiatica i think, can cope with brakishness.. gl with the tank sounds awsome!! be sure to post some pics when your done!
