    Seio bashers

has ANYONE actually had a seio running properly ie with the water inlets fully open? i just had a 620 replaced withg an 820 (cheers mike:) but it does the exact same impellor-rattle when you try to run it set on full. i can make it stop by blocking the outlet with my hand - the backpressure seems to push the blades back enough to stop wobbling. works fine set to "low", but they should work on full shouldnt they?
  2. omg how cool is that flamboyant? gee, i wonder if he's reef safe
  3. This is bacically a copy of an AquaC. I dont think you could make one any cheaper than importing one to NZ

    Seio bashers

i just got a seio 620 (before reading this thread ). the impellor rattled like hell the first few times i plugged it in, had to shake it to get it running smooth. even though its the smallest one, it seems quite big for the amount of current that it produces. seems to be going ok now though *touches wood*
  5. can anything general growing in a tank do you any real damage if it punctures your skin?
  6. nice i wouldnt worry about the temp, as the water will be constantly moving thru that section of the sump anyway. just means ur heater wont be on as much i have a similar set up but i have the skimmer on the right instead of the left, to skim any crap that comes from the output of the tank instead of letting it settle in the first chamber. also that way, there is no need for the sponge bubble filter on the output, as the baffles take care of that on the way out.
  7. Geek not a bad idea, you could poss. rig up a ph meter etc to it as well I was thinking of doing a webcam to my tank to kill time at work...

    ANENOME

it may just need time to adjust to the new lighting conditions. it should move to a place in the tank that it likes on its own.

http://www.coralculture.co.uk/shop/index.php?cPath=32_87 at the mo a deltec mce 600 is $500 NZ, deltec 851 $1087 NZ. email reply from coralculture.co.uk: From: CoralCulture [mailto] Sent: Monday, September 12, 2005 8:23 PM To: 'Josh' Subject: RE: Enquiry from CoralCulture Online Store Hi, Yes we can – the shipping would be around £30GBP for shipping. The skimmer can be ordered online. We are currently rebuilding the online store to cope with international orders. You are welcome to create an account using the country of residence as the UK, and when at the checkout stage use the “European†shipping option. This is priced at £35. Its possible I would get Deltec to ship one direct from the factory for you. Any questions, please feel free to get back to me. Skimmer

Remember that you dont need to buy one retail from N.Z. there are plenty of places overseas that will happily freight one out here. i was quoted about $1000 +$55 postage from a place in U.K. for a deltec 850. the same unit at hollywood is $1900. i have seen them even cheaper on some german sites.

  17. yeah im pretty sure they do......
  18. Theres a perspex place in AK on the hill between TVNZ and vic park markets. (cant rem. the name) They have offcuts which they practically give away. I got a couple of 300x400mm x 5mm thick for a couple of bucks not long ago.
  19. you will probably need to get metal halide lighting depending on what corals you want to keep.

    Top up water

Read it on some american site, just someones opinion though. I was just going from the fact that you need to replace the trace elements in dist. water if you drink it. Brianemone got it in one.

    Top up water

Is it safe to use distilled water to topoff? I have a distiller, and have to add drops of trace minerals to the distilled water to prevent it from leaching minerals from your body when you drink it. Have read that distilled water will leach minerals from tank / inhabitants if used to top up. ATM i just use aged tap water to top up, and have a small hair algae prob....
  23. Has anyone ever (successfully) made a home made skimmer? Dosent seem to me like it would be very difficult - in theory anyway - to make quite a large one. It is just bubbles in a tube after all..... Thought it would be worth looking into before shelling out $1000-1500 on a deltec.
