Will do so from now on! I feel really stupid now. I wanted at least a 120cm tank, and certainly was after something bigger, 120cm was bare minimum I wanted. I will have to measure it exactly, and probably list it again, do you think it'd go for at least what I got? Or would I be selling at a loss? I've emailled the lady, let's see what she says.

I picked it up, I just don't have a tape measure so wasn't sure and took her on her word that it was the right size. How much would I be looking at if I wanted to sell it? And how much approx to get a "real" 140cm tank (or roundabout that length)?

It's a bit of a drive for me, a bit tight in money atm. I wish I had a tape measure at least! I shall email the seller about it anyway.

I got the tank off Trade Me. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=79312660 It's not the fact that the lid's too long. It's the fact the tank's too short! Much shorter than what was listed there. I wanted a 140cm tank, not a 110cm one I wanted quite a large Malawi tank. I suspected it was a bit shorter than listed, but decided to trust it was okay. However, I wasn't expecting it this much shorter!

Got glass custom cut for lid for my new tank today, bring it home and guess what? Tank seems to be a lot shorter than advertised! I'd say at least 20 - 30cm shorter! What should I do? I'm not going to be that happy with it now, and I paid money to get some glass for the lid

So you mean somehow put it so it's straight up and down on one side of the tank? Where would I purchase something like that from? Are there submersible ones available in NZ?

So, would I need two lights on top of my tank if I wanted moonlight? Or is there a type I can buy for in my tank and if so, where can I buy it from?

Lack of space isn't a prob for me. I've got my own one bedroom place I'm renting, so I can put my stuff wherever I want, no flatmates! And the house is quite large so plenty of room. What's an overflow? I was kinda interested in a sump to keep the heaters and stuff hidden, however I get confused looking at how to make them, and just want to buy something ready made. Hehe.

I've already done the axolotl thing too! Had two of them, one I used to stick my finger in and he'd dart up and nibble on it, and I'd dare whoever was with me to do so. No one did. Yeah, sure is helpful! He makes all sorts, rabbit cages, avairies etc. Hopefully it'll be good for a Malawi tank. It's bigger than my 1 metre community tank was. And that was bigger than the one before. My boss, though, did for Christmas gift me with a four foot tank that he no longer used...however the bottom cracked and we figured because it had been sitting for ages in his lounge (ten years I think?) and then moved, it stressed it out I was gutted, it came with cabinet and all the bits and pieces. That was my first tank I ever owned. Well, first tropical, I had goldfish and stuff for ages before that tho...I seem to be progressing step by step! Goldfish, tropical now malawi

140cm x 49cm x 41cm Will do me quite nicely for a while...until I feel the need (or need to) upgrade my tank!

Thanks for that Frenchie, I might just do that! Afrikan - My grandad is making it for me, he's not back in Aucks until Saturday morning however, and I'll be talking it over with him. It will be made out of wood, I'll ask him about steel skeleton. I realised there'd need to be holes, and I was going to go with the canister, so would need to put in cabinet type thing. I picked up my tank yesterday. A lot of cobwebs and needs a good clean, something to do tomorrow I guess! So we're getting there

Thanks. However, I'm not electronically minded and get confused with things. I think that I'd be better off just buying something from somewhere. Unless someone on here could give me a price for making me something if it works out cheaper than just buying straight out? I'd just like to be able to set up and plug in and watch!

If I did get them, where do I put them? Would I need to get a custom lid thing made? How much do they usually cost? They do look really cool.

I just saw that a lot of tanks I looked at, have moonlights. What's the benefits (aside from looking pretty) and where can they be purchased from in NZ? Any other tips I should know?

I'm getting a cabinet type thing custom made for the tank, so as long as I know what I'd need, he can do it for me! So holes in the back would be a good idea for hoses/things? I thought it would be anyway. Has anyone got a cabinet type set up for their fish tanks custom made and if so, what do you have in it to specialise for the fish?

Okay, soak in seperate cold water? Or just in the boiling water? Do you leave it to dry afterwards or can use it straight away? How long do you soak for?

Thanks for the info! Certainly a lot to take in. I should be picking up the tank soon. So will have a look around for filters/heaters etc Yes, Jansens tests all those for like $5. Though I could probably buy the test kits seperately. I do have a PH test kit already.
