    Filter prices

I also have a fuvel 404,one of the newer ones, bloody hopeless,it does not pump any thing like it should and always needs cleaning where it goes into the cannister.I have to do this a least once a week, the ehim filter that i use to run two bio wheels gets cleaned every three months and while it cost a little move it is well worth the extra money i paid
  3. i think you will find that x hormone theroy has been disproved.water changes do work.i brought 3 discus from shaw in chch, they where the size of a fifty cent peice .i have had them for 4 months. 50-75% water changes and wiping down the sides of the tank every day, reducting down to 10-155 a day now. the discus are now 125mm from nose to tailand nice and thick bodys, aprox 20-25 mm.this is a lot of hard work yes but when pepole see my fish they are floored. the discus in my show thank are 250-300mm long and round and 30-35mm thick in the body. tow of my fish that just died here 9 years old and died of old age i have not used any chemical at all for over 6 years.clean water wiil do just fine i would suggest that www.dph.nl as the best discus site there is.
  4. i would sugest that one water change a week is no where near enough for discus,i would allso sugest a look at this site dhp.nl
  5. I should add to the last post that the filter should be kept clean and an air stone should be used to get plenty of air in the water.
  6. ok heres my two cents worth.salt will not do the trick in the tank, you should try a salt bath in a small tank.i do not belive this will help.i would start with a 50% water change in your thank, clean out any rubbish and muck, take the temp up to 32,change 30% of the water for the next 5-7 days, every day that is.i have not used any thing apart from salt for many years. your problems may be from not keeping things clean and probably not enough water changes or an over stocked tank. if the worst comes to the worst try formalin carfuly to the recomened dose and remember that the ph of your thank can change the needed dose.JMO
  7. dont no if you are still looking, but if you are bob at redwood aquitics in chch has them.i also remember some one looking for emperer tetras on this site, well bob had 6 left when i was there to day.
  8. i have a 350 lt tnak with 8 discus in it ,with the smaller fish i have this is over stocked,my plants grow very well.no co2 no fertilizer.temp i have found to be best is 28.i have 12 sword plants, appox 40 val plants,4 large bunches of hydra.the hydra is very easy to grow, the val can grow 200mm in a week.my thank is 60cm deep aand the closer the plants get to the top the faster they grow
  9. trendy pets in chch are selling aqua vita heaters for $30 for 300 watt ,200 watt $25 100 watt$20,the owner said they where a cheaper range.i have one titaium or is stainless steel, not sure which but its heats very well ,much better than glass ones.
