dave
I am sure i will find the mollies . On my last vist the swamp was quite low but i did a bit of investigating and found areas of good water depth . I believe that the mollies will be in these areas and with the amount of rain we have had laterly i am sure i will find them . Yes i have seen the devolpment sign but can't imagine them building in this particular area for obvarious reasons . Very final expreesions of intrest need to be to me by 10/10/03 sorry can't do any better than that . Mainly with booking accomodation etc . dave
Fellow molly hunters you won't belive our luck . I was on the phone to the owners of the Oasis motel yesterday and they mention these greenish fish with a tonch of orange that like hanging arond there thermal water supply to the hot pools at the motel . He said there are hundreds of them so we mighten even need to get in the swamp . The water levels are also up so it is fairly safe to asume the the molly population will also be thriving .Can't want for the molly hunt it is going to be awsome !!!!! Anyone one else coming just for one of the days ???
cat
Hi Dave I know this is late notice but ... Could hubby and I come along? Is there any accommodation left and if so what is the cost? Would rather stay overnight than travel up and back on the one day. Looking forward to your reply.

carla
Yes we did get mollies. Ours travelled for 10 hours and almost all arrived in excellent condition. Some of the small fry didn't make it, but they are all settling in nicely and eating already!!! Also stopped at Fees on the way home - caught some more fishies there, then onto hollywoods in Auckland to land the catch we made on Friday on the way down... and now for bed! Where were you Dennis? cat
What a fun weekend! You must all try it some time. Not that I actually went in after them as that it what husbands are for   Lots of mud and thousands of fish!!! Now that we are no longer molly hunting newbies we will know what to bring next time. Will help to have a slightly larger net as these fish are little V8 powered machines. Very quick. Lots of laughs as Dave literally threw himself into the hunt. The only one that was filthy up to his neck. When you consider the water is only a few inches deep that is quite an achievement.   (The mud is about two feet thick under the water though). The catfish in the lake are huge so we had no intention of getting one as we would never have anywhere to put it! Not sure if anyone got one as we had to make tracks for home. The weather was glorious for us and I even managed to get sunburnt in Turangi. 8) We really enjoyed it and will look forward to the next time. We, I mean hubby, managed to catch about 30 little V8's which are settling in at home.
nico
Thanks Dave for an interesting event, as with Cat, next time we will be better prepared, including the whitebait net. Gumboots were great if you didn't mind disappearing in about 2 feet of mud!!! As for the fish, they were pretty quick, V8 is a good description, but V12 on drugs would be better suited. We somehow managed to catch four of them which all survived the trip home. :-? As for the Catfish, the three-way fight between myself, Dave and Kevin to catch one fish end up in a mass of tangled fishing line and no fish. Look forward to the next event.
