  1. I arrived and disappeared while most were on the track, I noticed that last years accident victim was not racing. I wonder why!!!. Also wondering who the rog look a like was, but hard to say as all was wearing that great looking white hat!!!.
  2. Who won the go karting on Sunday? I couldn't stay long, but it looked like Ira (I think?) was going fairly quick, followed by Rog, (or a Rog look alike!)
  3. Yes I guess I had better change my picture, I took this weee fish in Singapore on my last trip there.
  4. Yes and No, my mine was elsewhere !, hope the meeting was fun, exciting, challenging, new things discussed, next trip planned. and then there was the AGM.........................................

    Bio Balls?

The golf balls are hollow, so sure it's not as much available space as bio balls, but they were a lot cheaper than the bio balls, and you can get them anywhere. But in saying that I found some cheap bio balls, so have included them in the mix. The system itself, is pretty much home made job, freshwater leaves six tanks into a piping system which falls into a tank. First up in the catchment tank is the basket filled with cotton wall. This leaks into the second section filled with bio ball/golf ball. Under near that the third section filled with gavel and an air stone pumping out air to circuit the gavel and bio/golf balls. Four section is a course sponge, followed by the last section a normal sponge, before the water is returned back into the six tanks via a pump. This is version two, and the only problem I have had (so far) was a bristlenose swimming into the pipe ending up in section one. She was only discovered after investigating the smell. Should the pump fail the catchment tanks holds the access water (just), should that fail the hole things sits in a large container, so no water on the floor.

    Bio Balls?

I use the plastic golf balls, cheaper option to bio balls. The system appears to be working well.
  7. What happened to Sunday??, or did I miss that one?
  8. I have lost one, died within the 1st day or so (I think) the others (three) are making themselves right at home now.
  9. Not sure how to add, as the pictures are on my c: drive not a website
  10. Thanks Dave for an interesting event, as with Cat, next time we will be better prepared, including the whitebait net. Gumboots were great if you didn't mind disappearing in about 2 feet of mud!!! As for the fish, they were pretty quick, V8 is a good description, but V12 on drugs would be better suited. We somehow managed to catch four of them which all survived the trip home. :-? As for the Catfish, the three-way fight between myself, Dave and Kevin to catch one fish end up in a mass of tangled fishing line and no fish. Look forward to the next event.
  11. Finally managed to purchase another Reliant thermostat unit, and replace the faulty one, but my question is; is there anything else on the market in which I can controller the temperature better with my set-up. Let face it the Reliant thermostat is a bit of a hit and miss with the temperature controls. Please bare in mind that I have a heater pad that sits under my tank and the 'Reliant' thermostats sits in the tank. Cheers in advance
  12. It was a backyard heater, not made by myself. The main problem is the temperature range, it will stop at 25.2 degrees and start again at 19 degrees. I understand that there will be some temperature difference, but not 6.2 degrees, or maybe I'm wrong here. My other heaters (in the tanks) keep the water at a constant 24 degrees.
  13. I have a heater pad under my fish tank, which has been playing up for a while now, can anybody recommend anybody that can repair these things in Wellington?
  14. Any idea's on the cost per bin?
