hi check your water conditions ie ph,ammonia,nitrates, nitrite.

usually a sign of poor water quality.

also poke around in the gravel and see if any air-bubbles come up, they smell like sulphur,if yes vacume gravel. lots of food oscars eat,lots of waste.

theyre clumsy as (i own one and i like to think i know a fair bit about them lol) and it could just be rips from hitting things, frank will often bump around in the night and in the morning hell have a few patches of scales missing, theyre really REALLY quick healers. a bit of melafix added wont hurt for now and see how it goes.

what size tank, what are you feeding, decor and any chance of a pic? hes not getting enlarged sensory pits or holes in his head is he? how often do you do water changes and how much filtration per hour do you have and what type?
