Tanksman
Don't go for a tank with a bow (bay? whateva) front. Just a massive leak waiting to happen - And the view is cr%p through a bow front- to distorted - It was the first type I bought and I hated it from the moment it was setup. rossco
We gotta bow front and will now have no other! You get far bigger fish for the same money Don't think many of Greg's tanks would leak, bow front or otherwise...

I have a bow fronted tank and people always comment on how great it looks. The view is not distored, it looks pefect to me. As for leaks? Mine has been setup for over 5 years without incident, and NOTHING makes me think it won't last another 15. Why would a bow tank be more likley to leak than a normal tank? Also you should check out JetSkiSteves marine tank, its a bow fronted corner tank, and its STUNNING. Not just the inhabitants, but the whole cabinet and look. Bow front rule, if I could have affored a 2m long one I would have it as my main tank without hesitation. Pie
reef_man
what size should i get it drilled at?
rossco
C'mon Pies - splash out a bit. You can have a 2m bow front as long as you have $1k for the front pane of glass alone!
Feelers
This isnt actually a bow front tank, it's a straight edged "bow". Just pm greg and ask if he can custom build one. I have heard he's excellent. That way you can get the size you want - he might even be able to drill it for you.

suphew
the size of the holes depends on the size of the tank, but I would say 30mm would be you minimum, with hole this size you are only going to be able to use 25mm plumbing, which might be fine depending on the tank size but as I said for me would be the minimum. Aslo as the others have said don't rush in, the tank is going to be one of the cheapest parts of your setup, take the time to make sure it is perfect, FYI gettting a custom tank made only costs around $1 a liter

Are marine fish more likely to bang themselves against the glass and break it ?

Hi I disagree with the stability issue - they would not make them if there was one. However, you do get view distortion. Its just personal preference of shape, but most people i know (me included) who ever got one, ended up changing.

Tanksman
Well I hope my distorted view stays dry as it has to date. With 6 vertical seams (more in some) as opposed to the conventional 4 it has more places to let go - glad I'm renting!! If I was spending $1 per litre these days I wouldn't opt for a distorted view but thats my preference.

Could you get a 2m long bow fronted piece of glass for so little? Pie
