PENEJANE
Hi there As topic says. I just got me a 3ft tank which is comming with some fish in it. I was wondering will this be ok on the floor as I don't have a cabinet or stand for this (yet). It will be in the spare room (keeps the kids out since it will be so low) Cheers
Wok
can't see any reason why not. Ponds are in the ground
suphew
Will be fine, biggest hassle is maintinance since it difficult to get a syphon going to drain water etc with it being so low.
Billaney
On the floor is no problem except cleaning , what i'd try and do is get a sheet of strong ply wood and some bricks/blocks and just raise it a few inches at least , this will make syphoning so much easyer when cleaning. Caryl
Yeah, get some cinder blocks to raise it up
PENEJANE
unfortunatly we don't have any bricks/blocks here and I would have to go and buy some plywood or something to put the tank on. Thats why I am asking if its ok on the floor. I know that cleaning will be a bit difficult but its not going to be there for ever lol Just intill I can get a stand of some form for it Cheers again
sharn
i have my 180L on the floor and its not a hassle at all apart from cleaning time. i have a self starter siphon and you have to suck on the end to get it going and then it takes like five minutes to fill up a 10L bucket lol. i still have polystyrene under my tank too

misnoma
You also want to make sure that the floor is flat if it's wooden. Possibly use a decently thick (1" or so) piece of polystyrene.
BK
When cleaning just run the syphone hose outside.
