reef
So far the seios have killed 2 cleaners shrimps and 1 damsel. I have found that the cleaner shrimps get sucked in on the sides of the seios. Has anyone else lost any livestock this way.
JoeBlog
Don't have any seios, but... skimmer pump was making an awful racket this morning and found my lawnmower blenny jammed/smashed into my skimmer needlewheel pump. He must have jumped into the overflow and was unlucky enough to go down the pipe to the skimmer instead of the sump.

Ira
Mine stretched a finger of a finger leather about 6 inches and stretched it out like a piece of bubble gum to suck it in. hehehe. No damage, pulled it out and it shrunk back to normal after a few days.
angelfish
its so sad when fish die because of the stupid equipment we use to give them the best possible life. one of my eheim compact pumps sucked up my first clownfish  and all of the cats eye snails ive ever put in there. ghostface
i cant see a seio doing any more or less damage to anything than a stream. they both suck a fair bit of water through - if anything in the tank is too weak or stupid to get away from the intakes, then i imagine they would get nailed no matter what the sticker on the side of the product says. raeh1
My shrimps moulted shells get suck in mine. They do look a bit like the shrimps. Maybe its just them and your shrimps are probably fine.
reef
i cant see a seio doing any more or less damage to anything than a stream. i believe not. I have never lost any shrimps/fish with the streams and i run far more streams than seios. The seios do tend to pull things in compared to the streams. could be more to do with the impeller design and the gaps are smaller on a seio pump unlike the stream which allows more water inside the impeller housing. jetskisteve
Yep but I might have to turn it down a bit first, might have to put a wall around my frogspawn
reef
Is that a good 24000L an hour No, it is only 24000L if they dont pulse, by turning them on/off it will reduce flow to about 16000l/h. one way to settle this.... experiment Done that , lost 3 cleaner shrimps
