alanmin4304
I had striatum years ago and the ones I had had very little colour and even then had to be kept in low light and peaty water to even have that small amount of colour. Are the ones you have now a different fish?
Alan
Very much so Alan. These ones actually have a black extension on the top of their caudal fin, and by using this colour variation we can locate the species or should I say type, that it is. The first ones that I saw at the Rotorua shop were of the same type, but unfortunately, the ppl that bought them, lost them. About $200 plus worth. PENEJANE
Damn so the ones that we currently have here in NZ require spacific water conditions and are not that colourful?
Faran
PJ - If you read carefully you will find that the ones that little alan had years back did, but big Alan has much nicer ones now...

alanmin4304
Same markings just 100 times more density of colour. The ones I was breeding were not that easy and were almost impossible to sell--probably why they are not around now.
Christine44
Hi my brother and myself bought the straitums from Rotorua shop fortunately, we didn't lose all of them and we have them breeding and the babies will be starting to breed soon, but we still won't have any to sell for awhile as we need to build our stocks first to make sure we don't lose the strain Christine
