Drifty
imo cleaner shrimps and fire shrimps dont do a damm thing for parisites anyway. I have 2 cleaners and 1 fire shrimp and it wasnt until I added a cleaner wrasse that i found out how many parisites my blue tang actually had, he had brown welts for about 2 weeks where the wrasse had removed them
cracker
mine definitely clean them...buty probably not quick enough when the outbreak goes off the chart. i think my cleaners should clean up the rest of the crew now...i am fairly hopeful of this. i have one bio team that proves this theory everyday. my biggest cleaner only cleans my flame angel and they are doing it on a daily basis. you can see him digging his pincers right up into the gills. its fascinating to watch. they are the same size as each other too. cross fingers
Brianemone
any idea of what caused the outbreak?? did you add a new infected fish?

lduncan
Must be Ich season. I lost my adult Emperor Angel over night. It was fine yesterday, but this morning it was dead on the bottom covered in whitespot. I haven't seen any signs of ich for many months. None of the other fish have it. Maybe the ich was just a secondary thing after the fish had died?
Brianemone
any coincidense with the recent warm weather??
lduncan
Kind of. It's been mid 20's and up to 30 recently down here, but the tank is steady on 27 (being in the garage helps stabilise the temp). Layton
Pies
Sorry to hear of everyones losses, suxor big time. Interesting, i've not added anything to my tank since the last debarcle about 6 months back. I've noticed my blue tang with some white spot over the last few days, nothing major, but its there. Ich season? Say its no so... Pie

cracker
Ben, sorry to hear that man. ...and the rest of you! I used salifert "stop parasite" the other day and only had enough to dose 2 of the 5 doses before running out. just these two doses knocked the ich HARD. I have managed to get some more from locals around here temporarily until the salifert shipment arrives in hopefully one week. it has been 3 days over the required dosing time i should have dosed. it killed my kole tang, put my sailfin and two oscellaris into hospital. as of tonight i have a very shady flame angel that i just cannot get out along with a very sad blue tang who is far to quick also. my yellow tangs have it too. i am expecting more death by the morning. however i have dosed stop parasite hard this afternoon, (double dose). so fingers crossed. it dose do its job very well as far as i have seen so far. fresh crushed garlic has done 3 eighths of bugger all. will not be dosing garlic ever again.
