Damo Posted October 17, 2005 Report Share Posted October 17, 2005 Hi, I have found some gravel in Punakaiki which I have brought home for the tank I am building. It looks great! It's mainly dark with some various coloured light stones and all quite small and very round. Obviously it'll have some shell fragments in it which will alter the water chemistry. Will it be too much calcium? Will it make too much difference? Does anyone know how to either get it out or how to nuetralise the effect it'll have. Damo. GeeTee Posted October 17, 2005 Report Share Posted October 17, 2005 I used gravel from the beach,cleaned it well and it has been fine in my tank for 5 months. The pH has stayed a little high even when using rain water for water changes,it sits at a very stable 7.8. I just bought some cichlids today as I am changing from a community tank to a cichlid tank rather than try to change the chemistry of the water,just changing the fish.
