angelfish Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 was checking out my sump the other day and found something strange growing on the rocks in there, heres some pics... any ideas? also a pic of the tank at the moment... ta, bonnie Quote
Brianemone Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 looks like red valonia if thats possible, is the powderblue tang real?? looks fake Quote
Ira Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 Hard to tell for sure since you've got the camera focused about a foot past the rock. But it looks like red macroalgae. Nice stuff, I've got heaps. I've pulled out about a basketball sized clump from my tank rcently because it was taking up so much room. But it grows in a nice easy to remove clump. Quote
angelfish Posted September 13, 2005 Author Report Posted September 13, 2005 thanks brianemone, yeah he's real. most of the photos ive taken of him look like this... he's so fast!!! i'll do a search on 'red valonia'. sorry 'bout the shot ira. was trying to get a close up since the bubbly things are so small. can red algae just turn up out of the blue? bonnie Quote
