chimera
i chopped the head off a xenia and re-planted it lower in the tank just over 3 weeks ago. this shows how quickly xenia grows (in exactly 3 weeks). i'd give it another 2 months and it will need fragging again  i'll take another pic in a further 3 weeks to see how quick it can grow. 21 July 2005 13 August 2005 3 September 2005

skuzza
Just think we were all lining up 2 buy it and now we cant give it away.It was the only thing that grew back after i had my wipe out.It started from tiny shred left behind. It took a long time to grow a head that you could see it was that small, but after that one head got pumpin, you know the rest. chimera
xenia is a really nice coral, pity it's not as colourful as many sps otherwise i wouldnt worry about it 'going wild!'
dogmatix
Mines doing very well, the thing i like about it is, to me it's kind of a visual indercator on how the tank is doing, as far as Ph and Kh goes anyway.
chimera
true, certainly not colour though

raeh1
My xenia grows at a snails pace. I love the stuff but for me it just groows really slowly....
suphew
Hay Ben, what signs do you get when your PH/KH are off? I have a large one in my tank, over night it looked like something had been eating it was all chewed looking on one side at the top. All the other smaller ones were fine. I checked my PH a couple of days later and fine it had dropped quite a bit (I've been playing with my cal reactor), I was blameing a unknown hitchhiker but could it have been my PH? cookie extreme
he chim, whats wrong with your xenia why is it gorwing so slowly? joke aside my brown one (the one in your picture doesn't grow very fast at all. it used too until i indroduced the silver pom pom type which just doesn't stop growing. i wonder if there is some kind of chemical warfare going on betwen the types??? jetskisteve
I have both so does Putt Putt & they grow like mad, u wanna buy a frag
Brianemone
there might actually be something to that theory, the brown variety has slowed in growth since i've had the white type, may just be that they like the same junk in the water
Ira
Chemical warfare wouldn't explain why mine grows slowly, I only have the brown type. And I'd say the growth Chimera's had in 3 weeks has taken mine something like 3 months, maybe more.
