I know its only early in the year but thought I would start the thread :-)

Who's going to Blenheim for this years conference?

Best of luck to Caryl and the Blenheim Club for this years event.

Looking forward to it and catching up with everyne again, then of course there is the big one in 2004 in Vanuatu, at the moment there are about 12 people from Hawkes Bay saving madly for that one :o

The dates are on the main page under Events Goldie. We haven't got a schedule yet as it is too early for stuff to be confirmed. Basically the format is get-together Friday night. Guest speaker on Saturday morning followed by AGM. A few other things in the afternoon, depending on how long the AGM drags on for. Fun evening. Sunday is all fun activities with prizes and raffles (only a few raffles) and a visit to a winery or 2 (or 3).

We hope to set up some computers and show everyone this site, how to access it, join a few more up to it, and have Cees run a session for those interested in becoming mods or admins for it. He will also show those interested how to use their club pages and update them etc.

That's the plan anyway :D

Perhaps at some stage over the weekend we can arrange a time to be on-line and see if we can break the 'most on-line at one time' record for this forum. We could post to those who belong to the board but are not FNZAS members.

I guess I'll be attending then, virtual or real.

Good idea Caryl, but hopefully before the AGM meeting.... how do we set it up ?

I was envisioning us saying "Right, we will be on-line at 9am Saturday morning, such and such a date, NZ time" and seeing who joined us. I am not sure what the best time here would be to suit the northern hemisphere (or as much of it as possible). Anyone any ideas?

I could probably setup a 'chat-room' for that one occasion as well.

Be nice if there was a direct link from the main sheet of the forum, and some indication of how many, or if anyone was in the room, also on the main forum header.

Will add that soon. Need to go through the script first and see how it works and where I can improve it etc..

I'm just testing it now.

Is one room enough ??

Others I have seen have 2 or more. One for fish related chat and one for general chat. Is it difficult, or does it take up too much room?

Perhaps an empty room or 2 where you could go if there were lots in the chat rom at once (hey, you never know!) and 2 or 3 wanted to continue their own conversation. Like private rooms.

hey Cees ... I'm a PHP freak icon_twisted.gif if you're interested ... running a forum/chat etc at http://www.mandrakeusers.org

thought I might warn you that phpchat is REALLY heavy on the server, and you might be better to explore the options of starting an IRC bot instead.

I have (actually someone else but it works with my site) a room at irc.openprojects.net #mub ... and I have found a nice little irc.cgi client ..... lot nicer on the server.

I am also I'm pretty savvy with phpbb ...
