Benjansss Posted January 18, 2015 Report Share Posted January 18, 2015 I have just learned all my gold fish have died including a very very pink one in a freak accident well I was away within a day the tank had a huge algae bloom and brown hair algae was growing all over the tank and their was a oil like substance on the surface during this the fliter was running fine I had had some of the fish for over three years and had learned their personatlys very well Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

livingart Posted January 18, 2015 Report Share Posted January 18, 2015 the symptoms you describe do not happen suddenly algae takes a few days to grow the oil on the surface would be stopping gas exchange occuring from the post it appears you were away for 2 weeks, were any water changes done in that time? alanmin4304 Posted January 18, 2015 Report Share Posted January 18, 2015 Regardless of what you might think what you describe indicates overfeeding followed by an algae and bacterial bloom that has used up all the oxygen and killed your fish.
