aussiegreenthumb
hey guys its aussie here and this is my personal DIY build for my 240 gallon 8x2x2 starfire tank this was a long journey and dream build i had planned for a long time, i had plenty of 2,3, and 4 footers through out the years of fish keeping and always wanted something a bit bigger like a 5 or 6 but i though stuff it i will just want something bigger again and went the whole hog with an 8x2x2 in 10mm starfire front and sides. so i ordered the tank and got thinking on idea's for the stocking list and overall scape, i had setup a 4ft previously to this and really like the whole planted tank setup becouse it looks natural, helps reduce nitrates and phosphates plus its a challange. so grab a bevvy and hope you enjoy this build log :-) 8x2x2 custom starfire front+sides low iron transparency

aussiegreenthumb
now my favorite part the aquascaping side of it :-) flourite mixed with 3-5mm red river rock + playsand driftwood from agnes waters (town of 1770) kick down and leveled tank in place. i had to move out of home becouse my mum and dads place is on stilts and cant support 1.5 ton of the bearings the things you do for your fish
aussiegreenthumb
8inch's of substrate at the back and the 3d terrace holds it in place tree i configured out of the driftwood pieces small rocks along the terrace too to stop gravel spilling over the white sand
aussiegreenthumb
plants arranged and scaped i ran my eheim to a large container and fed it food to keep the cycle going while i transferred the plants and setup the tank (around two weeks) filled to the brimm (took over an hour to fill) next couple of days when the sand storm died down left middle right
aussiegreenthumb
two weeks later fish added now for some pimp my tank style going on i made a custom sliding roof rail for the halides and a pair of bose cube monitors for the soothing sounds of fat freddys and other chilled music passive radiators make lots of mid-bass and no need for a sub that can ennoy your fish, i hate putting anything in the tank thats vibrating like powerheads ect.. it really does stress the fish out
