kiwiraka
Cool! I currently have a couple of month old pekin ducklings and theyre already as big as my adult mallard domestic crosses.... Did you incubate your quail or buy chicks?

Insectile
Is the mum a silver or a cinnamon?
Silverdollarboy2
cinnamon
alanmin4304
Cinnamon is normal/silver cross hence the difference in the chicks. I used to breed hundreds of them but have forgotten the genetics already.
Insectile
My pair is a normal male and silver female. Have only ever had one cinnamon produced and a handful of silvers, the pair seem to produce mainly normal offspring, may have to get my hands on a cinnamon at some stage and breed with my male to see what sort of ratios i get. alanmin4304
If my tiny mind serves me there is a sex link there and the normals are all males. There is a big predominance of males anyway.

alanmin4304
Most people look at them and think they are cute but they can be one of the nastiest birds I have bred. They will fight to the death over territory, mating rights and anything else they can think of.
Colour_genes
Agree they are very territorial. One male to several females works best to diffuse the aggression. 2 males together today = 1 dead male tomorrow! Cinnamon is sex-linked. If neither parent is cinnamon, any cinnamon chick will be female. Cinnamon males are quite handsome, worth the trouble to breed to get them.
