Adrienne
Heres the link which is a sticky in the freshwater section as to 'The List' viewtopic.php?f=4&t=61250 Top post is the link to the fish we are 'allowed' in NZ however this does not mean we get it here. It might help you work out what killies may have been here - less helpful as to what still is. Until about 3? years ago there were several reputable, experienced breeders around, dedicated to keeping most of the varieties of killies known to have come in to NZ breeding and available to other Killi Club members. Those gentlemen are no longer keeping killies and we have reached a stage where quite a few varieties are no longer in the country any more. The Killi Club is in recess as we were unable to find anyone willing to step in and take on President, Secretary and delegates. It was a good and active club, sharing eggs around the country. Silverdollarboy2
do we get Rachow's Nothobranch in nz?? I don't think you should get Nothobranchius as they die after a year or so and get velvet very easily. You said you like gold panchax and straiutum which are good starter killifish.Gold panchax can live for four years which is a long time for killies and I recommend you get them. alanmin4304
Rodney would have the most varieties at the moment. I think all killies are on the approved list as fish (cannot import eggs),some have been imported recently but there has been a lot of losses so I guess they will not be so keen in future. You can control velvet in nothos with peat or salt but I know Redwood Aquatics have not had much luck with importing them.
